It's a tough one, if he went elsewhere and got back to his best I'd probably cry.

My optimism for Love has increased slightly after yesterdays performance. Yes he was up against a prevent defense but his throws had a certain zip about them that I hadn't seen before from him and he looked very comfortable running the offense. We need to work out what Love is before the end of this season, I'd put Rodge on IR, get a good look at Love and make a call at the end of the year, realise that's easier said than done because he's a stubborn pr*ck.

I don't see a world where both of them are still on our roster next year, if either go elsewhere and show out next year it will hurt. Rodgers back to somewhere near his best with a year of development for Watson and Doubs, pick up a quality TE on the open market and another veteran WR and anything can happen.

... oh and a new D coordinator.

Agree on all of this.

Barry was such a poor hire to begin with, but to give 350+ yards on the ground is probably the lowest we can go, surely? Have always felt they practiced more celebrations than they do fundamentals. A lot of talent being wasted if we stick with him.

I said it a couple of weeks ago in the weekly thread, I think we've got one more year of Rodgers at his best, really need to rest those bodies for a big run in '23, not just Rodgers, but everyone we need to. I think we're still capable, add a couple of high picks, extra experience for the young guys the rest of this year.

Yeah the Barry hire was dumb, I think we put all our eggs into Jim Leonhard and MLF just went with someone he knew when Leonhard rejected us, although I know the current Denver DC was also in the running, who would've been much better surely.
I think this might be one of the worst defenses ever when you base the actual draft capital and salary capital put into them vs actual output. It's so embarrassing. Our defense was actually way better in 2020 imo, although it hasn't helped this year that we have barely ever had a lead.

Rodgers has been fine. His thumb has really stagnated him combined with the line being really iffy in the early parts of the year, plus the WR room not having much talent until Watson has now broken out - the result is a 'down' year for Rodgers, which would still be a career year for a lot of QBs.
It's normal for any QB to have a few shitty throws a game, and this might sound silly but those INTs weren't exactly his fault, I guess he probably shouldn't have trusted a spud like Tyler Davis to run the right route though.
Plus, I don't think most people understand how painful an avulsion fracture actually is. I was in complete shock when I found out he's playing with that. I have absolutely no idea how he is throwing the ball more than 10 yards, honestly.
I'd be very surprised if this is the way he goes out. And I highly doubt he'll go anywhere else now, if he was going to he would've gone to Denver where he would've been comfortable with the system etc. What he wanted more than anything I believe was the ability to decide when his career finishes, and this contract allows that.

Re - resting guys and bringing them back, interesting points. I'm not sure what some are referring to as 'cap hell', do we know what the cap will be? Aren't we headed for a big cap increase soon?
Bakh has been good, I'd assume a restructure. I'lll have a good look at our FAs later in the week.
Amos goes, he's really gone downhill. Unfortunately we're on the hook for Savage and something like 9.5 million which sucks hard because he sucks.
Jenkins I wouldn't want to pay tackle money to, which I reckon other teams will offer so we will probably lose him.
Jones is a restructure, he's our best offensive player, no way you'd want to lose him.

The 22 draft class has looked good so far, I just want to see more of Wyatt, because I feel like we'll either be looking at OLB or an interior DL in the draft at this stage (Clark has been shithouse this season btw). But Enagbare, Watson, Doubs and Walker have all showed really positive signs this year and it's exciting.

I'm interested to see how this year now concludes, early word from Monday in the US was that Rodgers looks to have avoided significant damage so he'll play this week. There's a path that sees us winning our last 5 games but I'm not confident about it and it's kinda pointless. If Love plays say, the last 2 games, hopefully he has a nice showing and we get offered an early 2nd rounder for him or something.
Our prospects for next year are a little more positive IMO, it's just been that kind of year where everything has gone against us. New DC can hopefully at least make this a 10-15th ranked defense and that should be enough to make playoffs.

Just on the draft I think it's either going to have to be a DL, OL or safety. Will depend on a number of things though like who they bring back on both O/D line and like mentioned above by offtherails9 Savage is just woeful now and Amos has hit a wall, leaving really only Ford who is a FA as well.

Personally I'd prefer a DL in the 1st, can cover a safety with good consistent DL pressure and plus it would sure up our run defence. We've already got Alexander, Stokes and Douglas we need to play them closer to the line and jam and allow the front 7 to cause bad throws.

Yeah. Few things to talk about here. DL sounds good, that's a lot of currency put into one position but it's so important, just look at how deep the Eagles DL is at the moment. Top 10 draft pick, Kenny Clark, plus Devonte Wyatt, could be pretty worrying for offenses if we actually can get a competent DC.

Was listening to a pod earlier, I wonder if someone like Stokes would be a trade candidate. Good first season, definitely didn't play as well this year, plus I don't really see how the three CBs we have works unless we play Jaire in the slot. Btw Jaire has been giving me the shits a bit this season with his attitude.

On Jaire's attitude I think a lot of it comes from frustration with Barry and the defensive scheme. He wants to be the man, hard to be that guy when you're continuously played in off coverage.

This is where I’m at getting excited about incomplete passes. This was pretty nice though.

Should have been caught. But at least he put the ball in the only place where Jones would be catching it.

Cautiously optimistic around Love, his short stint showed good signs and improvements from last years start. He's got a quick release and had some real zip on his throws and placement was mostly solid and for now I'll take that until we can get more game time from him.

Can't be posting an absolute piece of crap like Bukowski on here, everyone here is normal right?

Fair on the video though. It was a good throw. I just wonder what we can get for Love because I don't really see us keeping him on the roster next year with his salary being of course a little higher than a usual backup QB.

Jaire’s been yappy this year hasn’t he.. every game running his mouth I’ve noticed that too lol

Didn't realise it was that flog Bukowski, I just watched the video.

The thing with Love though is he is the same age as a lot of the good young QBs coming through. We can take his 5th year option as well, then if he performs we could probably get him on the cheap as he doesn't have the body of work behind him compared to those other guys. In saying that I'd happily trade him for the right place.

Mmm yeah, it's optimistic thinking I reckon. I'd love to keep him a little longer but I feel another team may see enough and offer him something decent.

I really need to get off Twitter these days, the Packers twitter group is so nauseating and frustrating. The thing that annoys me is that prior to this week, Love had looked really pretty poor in what we'd seen. But for some reason you weren't allowed to be objective over what was happening in the moment, and if you think that he used to suck that makes you an idiot? Obviously the guy can improve.
I unfollowed another guy today because he wouldn't stop tweeting about the interview Kizer had this week talking about Rodgers asking him about his thoughts on 9/11. These guys are such losers but actually get paid money for this shit lol.

Everyone and their dog knew that Love was bad prior to the small sampling we had on the weekend, just revisionist bullshit really. Like most young QBs really, Rodgers was rank his first couple of seasons as well.

I don't bother with Twitter takes, I try and stick to definite news and or breakdowns. Only thing worse than twitter is Reddit gameday threads, holy hell is that another level of toxic.

Yeah, it was just weirdos trying to score internet points, as always these days.

It's hard, because I love the Packers chat, but when it turns to negative crap and people are just saying things for clout or being condescending idiots and having ulterior motives, it's terrible. And yep, reddit is a hole. I try not to let myself read it half the time because I don't want to engage in the crap.

Just finished watched the game without knowing scores.

If there’s a win just to get it by any means. Not much of a run game. Injuries piling up, Converting 4th downs, interception, Our defense turning it on for the 2nd half. That was just good to see. Watson going out was disappointing but he has grown in front of our very eyes.

Our defense showed up in a massive way. Those 2 big plays to waddle and hill, well basically any waddle catch lol, we slowly shut down thier run game and it helped with a few bad throws by tua.

Don’t feel great by not being able to take advantage of really short field position. But for today a Few beers are going to go down nice. Enjoy guys

Just started watching the game, from the sounds of it seems like a normal Packers game. A bit of good, a bit of shit, and a heap of in between.

Not gonna lie, if the choice is pick 16 or some other shit first rd pick or playoffs, I'm rooting for playoffs. ****, lets go all out and dream. Beat the Vikings in the first round, beat the Eagles in the divisional, beat the niners in the conference and bend over the fn Bills in the Superbowl.

THE DREAMS ALIVE BABY!!!!

One of my favourite games in a long time.

-Keisean Nixon 😍 it feels weird to have a good kick returner, we haven’t had one since rookie Randall and before that was Desmond Howard. An absolute weapon.

- Jaire 😍 Say what you want about him, he backs up the talk. Thought the Griddy was going to come back to haunt him, makes me laugh now that it didn’t.

- Rasul 😍 found his 2021 form again. The D is 10 times better with him in this kind of lockdown form.

- Kenny Clark 😍 Absolute monster, sure the Vikings lost their center early but good players take advantage of that. The inside was just a no go zone. Cook couldn’t do a thing and Kirk had no time.

That was fun.

I thought for sure that was a real early moment to go the gritty. Not even a 3rd down play from memory. But it was pretty clear after the 2nd series defensively that they were as a whole group flying around and had a massive buzz about them..

Hope having jaire follow a teams number 1 happens more often from now on

That was actually the most enjoyable game of the LaFleur era which is funny considering the success the team has had in his tenure. Bar the punt block that was a complete performance in all three phases in most regards. Not like Rodgers threw for 350 yards but it wasn't necessary. I always felt games like this last year teams would stick around and it wouldn't really get out of hand like that, for example that last TD we scored, usually we'd get 3 there but Rodgers rumbled into the end zone the big fella.

Awesome morning and win and we're in. It's been a very fun and rollercoaster season, but honestly more enjoyable than the anxiousness of being the best team in the conference and waiting to see what will go wrong. From here, it's all a bonus, I won't go too homer-ish because I know other fans read this thread and probably laugh but yeah. Very enjoyable guys.

Yeah, quite enjoyable. We weren't perfect by any means either, so its a pretty good sign.

Thought it was going to be one of those great ST days with the blocked punt. And thats why Nixon is so important to us right now, cos a good KR threat can take back momentum at the drop of a hat, just like yesterday Or just spark a moment in a game (or a whole season in Nixons case). As good as Cobb was in his youth, I feel he was more reliable than HR threat. So I'm happy to say Nixon is the best we've had since Howard.

Defense was swarming yesterday, absolutely loved it. Seeing 2, 3 and sometimes 4 players meet the receiver immediately after the catch is not something I remember seeing. Quay is a fn stud, and his speed makes everyone better. I hated Jaire making the fluke statement, and I still don't like it, but if he can blanket the leagues top WRs like he did yesterday, he may change my mind. Keep playing the way they're playing though, anything can happen, just worried Barry will somehow **** it up.

Offense was ok, Rodgers is still missing some throws which is a worry, but at least Jones has continued to be fantastic, even through injury. I even thought there was a couple of times we ran when we should've passed, where it's usually the other way around. Tough situation for the offense atm, need to win, but need to get key players as healthy as possible, Rodgers, Jones, Dillon, Watson all hampered atm. Probably more. Tonyan is starting to look a little more dangerous again also.

Also, he is my scapegoat, but Gutekunst has knocked it out of the park with the 2022 draft class. I feel its one of our best ever, and really don't know how I feel about him now. And the in-season additions of Nixon and even Hollins have been really positive. I'm not going to say I love his work, but I can't fault him over the last 12mths.

I think one of the biggest turnarounds in the team is the attitude. I wrote earlier on in the year that it looked like we had massive issues in the locker room but in the past few weeks we haven't seen that emerge and we haven't seen those onfield meltdowns.

Nixon definitely plays a roll in that, he's sparked the team with his returns consistently since he got the gig. For a guy who only had a handful of returns before this year it's amazing what he's done.

Needs to also be commended for signing Reed and Ford. Both have had some big games with us as well.

So far this draft class is looking really good. Quay and Watson are obvious studs, Wyatt is playing well, Thom has filled in admirably, Doubs is solid and Enagbare while slowing down now did well early filling in for Gary. So 6 guys who are showing really positive signs.
