But that doesn't mean we should expect to trade pick 16 this year for Coniglio does it? Sheridan for Gumby wouldn't be a good trade for us to make at this point.
Just because someone is your leading goal kicker doesn't mean they are a key position player.Fact it that regardless of what he should be, he was your leading goalkicker this year so his position is unlikely to change in the near future. I agree with Ryder, he excels as a first ruck but again history leads me to believe he will play the forward/ruck role with Bellchambers doing the ruck/forward role. Daniher will take time, but Gumbleton isn't a seasoned player and shouldn't be put that far ahead of Daniher based on the amount of games played as he's getting his touch back still.
Yeah, that's fine, I think he played fine this season and I'm not trying to argue that. I just think that if your list is fit, going on this season, come round 1, 2013 he wouldn't be automatically first 22. Then as Daniher and Hurley improve it might make it harder. Again, you'd do well to keep him, but I'm just not sure if it'd be what he wants.
Was just referring to you saying that I didn't know your list that well in the last bit.
Probably getting a bit off-topic here, just adding a neutrals thoughts on why Gumby might not want to stay.

Ummm this you maybe or not be right on but i'd still like to see ryder go back and have a forward line of gumby hurley and crameri but the coaches mightn't like that as as you pointed out ryder has primarily been playing a a ruck/forward i just think he is a lot more effective as a back man than a forward. i guess we will have to wait and see.
I have my doubts Tommy will be at freo after 2013 and believe this could be a win win trade.
Does anyone have a good trade sense here for a trade game?
Why would Gumby wanna go to Freo?
Why would Gumby wanna go to Freo?
Have you seen steinberg?? He is hopeless. You nailed it, we can afford to let Gumby go give we also have Steinberg on the waiting list....But only for a decent trade, otherwise he is a must keep.
Gumbelton is a good player, but with the arrival of Joe Daniher, he may have to move over. This is probably the reasoning behind Essendon offering him a one year contract. I would be okay with Gumby being traded to Fremantle for an Ibbotson or a Suban. Recruiters think differently to most who have posted in this thread. They want a KPF to help out Pav, and with both Cloke and Tippett out of the picture for them, Gumbelton looks a bargain player. They wont have to give away high draft picks or a player like Stephen Hill. I as a fan wouldn't mind seeing either of those Dockers I named above in an Essendon jumper with Gumby heading home.
Milne was st kildas leading goal kicker this year, does that make him a kpp? Creameries was leading the Coleman at about round 6 when everyone was still fit as he was basically playing in the pocket with 3rd or 4th defender on him. After that his form was pretty terrible.Yeah, I would agree you could certainly keep him if you could, having a back-up that can perform when needed and available like him is gold. I just think from Gumby's point of view after struggling with injury and (hopefully) being relatively past it he might not be too happy to wait in the wings with a one year deal. I think he'd stay with two years being offered.

When is Daniher expected to pull his weight, say at 21, 3 years time, 2015 or 2016 ?
Freo is rapt with his development and are keen to get more game time into him in 2013 as our midfield is mostly blue-collar and lacks the touch of panache that he has.
But for injury he would have debuted a lot earlier.
Seems more likely.Im hearing a lot of stuff about gumby to Bulldogs
Jack Anthony for Gumby? Are you loco?Gumby to Freo... that would mean they would have to give up someone in the ilk of Silvagni or Jack Anthony.
Sounds like a good deal to meJack Anthony for Gumby? Are you loco?
Wasn't Gumbleton the 2nd best player in the u18's 6 years ago. Did you expect him to dominate in his first year. There is a big difference between playing on a skinny 6'3" kid your a 5 inches taller than and playing on a beast like Ben Rutten. Josh Kennedy was the best KPF in his draft year and it was not until his 4th season that he could get a regular game. Trading out a player because you have high hopes for a rookie would seem to be a risky strategy to me (Daniher does seem like a good prospect though).I wouldn't be suprised if we saw a Jeremy Cameron type debut season. I'm not going to say it's definitely going to happen but have you seen the size of him? He'll have help from Crameri, Ryder, Hurley and Goddard if he needs to go forward.
Yeah nar. I really hope we keep gumby but if we don't hopefully we could do swap our 3rd and 2nd round picks for the dogs 3rd and 2nd round pick hell I'd better happy to just get their 3rd round pick. Just hope he doesn't go to freoGumby to Freo... that would mean they would have to give up someone in the ilk of Silvagni or Jack Anthony.
