Good morning all you flogs wasting away your empty lives in this tortured concept of a fantasy league. It's your favourite former admin, Hall of Famer, Royals premiership captain again (not that there's much competition, I mean, the only other person to fit the description is The Filth Wizard). Anyway, I am dropping by to acknowledge a truly momentous occasion in league history. A rare feat attained by one of the all-time greats, that may never be rivalled.
Of course the man I am talking about is the one and only Broken.
Now I had the honour of officially elevating Broken to immortal status in Season 26 and by that point he had a Mobbs Medal, a premiership, numerous iconic threads and All-SFAs and universal adoration - a legend in every sense of the word really. Once you reach the status of Hall of Fame Immortal it's hard to imagine how one could elevate his career even further, but he has and he's gone where no Qootballer has ever gone before.
If case you're wondering what the occasion is, today is the 10th of May 2021. 5000 days since 1 September 2007 - the date of Broken's last finals win*.
How long ago was that? To put it in perspective, Broken has not played in a SFA finals win for the entire time the SFA Committee and Hall of Fame have existed. 8 clubs have been added at different points, 7 clubs have folded at different points and there's been one merger since the date of Broken's last finals win. 9 admins have come and gone, the current one wasn't even born then!
Hell 400+ gamer ClarkeM has played his entire career without ever witnessing Broken play in a finals win, his club even signed Broken in a preliminary final only to bundled out in spectacular fashion. I'm sure there are vast numbers of other fun facts surrounding Broken's run without a finals victory, but I'll leave Hate to find them and probably do a well-researched, comprehensive media piece on the matter.
The point is Broken still stands today peerless in his loserdom and that is something worthy of high praise. He could so easily have occupied a spot in a team, racking up games as an inactive like so many alleged 'champions' and contribute nothing of value while their team lucks out one day wins a premiership. He could have played in multiple premierships by now had he done that, or at the very least have a finals victory.
But instead, he decides to abide by his principles of only taking up a spot if he can make add value to the league with his contributions and that is what separates the truly great custodians of the SFA from the majority of you self-fellating, egomaniacal troglodytes.
Congratulations to Broken on your hard-earned record, long may you continue to not win finals!

*Well if we're being brutally honest it's a stretch to call that a 'win', the game was the S7 Qualifying Final Southern Sharks vs Roys and the Broken's Roys lost the game by 15 points, but Frankston Rover (who was also admin at the time) forgot to post his team sheet so he penalised his own team and the Roys advanced due to a technicality and to find Broken's last actual win in a game of finals Qooty we need to go to the previous season when the Roys beat the Koalas on the 26th of November 2006, also happened to be Frankston Rover's debut team, but 5.279k day doesn't have the same ring to it so let's just be generous and give the W to Broken.
