Brisbane were trying to protect compensation pick 35. I can't see a scenario where we would have done any better than 48, otherwise everyone would have been better off walking with FA.

There was plenty they could have done, there was even the floating of an upgrade on our pick in the 20s which would have been preferable to this trade which makes less sense for Brisbane because they've lost more points than they would have in that scenario.

That doesn't fill me with confidence. GWS are the team we need to pry an earlier pick out of. Not sure Freo would be overly generous.
