You're missing the point. We don't need him in general play. Neither do we need a third rate midfielder in Hickey in general play.

I'm sorry but footy doesn't work like that, especially not modern day footy and certainly not with our gameplan. If Longer wants to model his game on Mummy type ruckman then that's great, it would be an amazing result for us. But watching Mummy he functions well in their team in that he complements whatever they are trying to do and, if the ball comes his way, is quick and clean with it. On his performance last weekend, Billy has a long way to go until he is dependable by hand, let alone by foot or even marking when the ball comes his way (Hickey has come along in leaps and bounds with this so there is hope for Billy given time) The crash and bash stuff looks good so there is something to work with at least.

Hold on, the main board tells me that Rioli is an overrated downhill skiing spud that can only function in an elite team (his 3 x AAs, 4 x Medals, 1 x Norm Smith notwithstanding).

I'm confused.

Dunstan and long gone

Stevens and sincs in

No hickey in team or emerg

JOM back
Very happy with those changes.

Dunstan to play his first game in the VFL. He looked like he was building for a good year after the West Coast and Brisbane games but he obviously needs a wake up call after the last two weeks. I hope he goes back and finds a heap of the footy.

Happy that Long got a taste for senior footy but he's not ready yet. Hopefully he knows what it takes now and comes back a better player.

Sinclair has been terrific at VFL level since last year, here's hoping he can transform that in to good senior football. Stevens was an obviousl choice.

Lol @ Vickery an emergency.

Ninja Edit: Should add positives and not just pot Hawks players. Very happy to see Sincs in, hope he gets a good run through the midfield.

LMAO. You said he was smashed, I replied with not in the first half when he was fit.

Again, Smith is actually not a poor ruckman and if he's better than Longer as you seem to think he's a damn sight ahead of Hickey as it cirrently stands with no third man up.

Longer is also to short but notice I said Hickey is not tall enough AND not strong enough. Longer is strong enough.

And whether you like to admit it or not there are without a doubt players whose role is not to get possessions but get them as an add on to doing their job. These include most key backs some back pockets and the occasional forward pocket played as a stopper not to mention taggers.

No you can't say.

Happy for you to prove I said smashed otherwise it's again a worse story than Harry potters first root. And there is not a player in the afl who has a role not to get possessions. Players can actually stop and get possessions. Anyway that's a deflection from longer playing against a poor ruckman

Don't get me wrong I don't think he's perfect, not by a long shot. I would much prefer if Billy was better around the ground and if he had cleaner disposal or if he could take Big Boy McEvoy like marks, at the moment he can't. But I'd rather a ruckman who can ruck over one who can't, no matter how much better Hickey is around the ground.

You keep saying Smith's a poor ruckman but he isn't. Saying it over and over doesn't make it so.
