They’re also recording a podcast with Merlino today. They will by asking all board nominees to be interviewed and put forward their case so that we can all hear what everyone has to say.

Too lazy to listen today (will catch up) - but did they ask Sill about how the change candidates could see the gender representation on the board get worse when most clubs are improving this?

Nank has today sent an email to members in his capacity of acting president. Main thrust of the email is an election pitch. I get that he is probably entitled to do it - but I don't love that he gets the full resources of the club to do this and Gowers does not.

HawksforChange have also released a statement backing Andy Gowers for President. They are open minded about the 5 board applicants for the 3 board positions. They have reached out to the 5 applicants and will share what they learn in due course.

From the 29 minute mark, Ed Sill gives his thoughts on the HFC through the eyes of a long time Hawk who for those unaware is the president of the Box Hill Hawks.

There’s a reason Dicker put Ed forward, and it’s apparent in what he has to say here.

People need to listen to this.

Unfortunately it is reality.

The email this morning certainly casts a different light on what I understood to have happened.
I was worried that the nomination of Nankivell was just Jeff maintaining control once removed.
That seems to have been debunked now.

And coming from Geoff Harris, I respect his opinion. I know and respect his support of our club.
Don Scott - he is a different cat altogether....

Not sure how to vote now.

It's interesting that Nank was apparently so reluctant to accept the role of President back when his search committee failed to identify a suitable replacement.

Now multiple suitable replacements are putting their ticket forward - lucky, considering the board failed to publish the nominations deadline!

I wonder why he's still keeping himself in the running...

Ugghh this just reads as unnecessary bullshit. I don't mind candidates putting their case forward and disagreeing, but doing it under the official Hawthorn banner is garbage.
It’s typical of this board though.

I would have thought this type of politics using the club's official channels would make people more inclined not to want Nank there.

Not everyone is a critical thinker - if you look at the kinds of comments the club attracts on its social calendars then I would hazard a guess there would be a significant portion of the membership base that may try and eat their ballot.

Got no clue who to vote for now

Do I stick with an experienced board member or go for fresh blood

They sure aren’t making it easy
Nank only sees himself as a “transitional” president. That has to come into play for those who want a united and stable board.
