I’ve had a very low opinion of him for a long time. But every time he manages to drag my opinion of him lower and lower.

We don't know much about what the current board have done behind the scenes.
However, we do know what they haven't done. They haven't kept Jeff from damaging the club significantly in the past year.
So either they've been powerless or complicit in his action. That's enough for me.

this all started years ago when jeff demanded undying support from all board members, something like, if Jeff wanted them to resign then they had to. Someone more into the board machinations can get the details correct, then thanks. Why someone didn’t say no to this amazes me, but that’s us members fault as well.

Of course we need to keep Sam. A big contribution to our success in past 60 years imo is having a stable coach at the helm. Kennedy, Jeans and Clarkson.. They all had long tenures, Kennedy and Clarkson started with mediocre starts to their coaching career, but by sticking with them, they were able to build their respective teams. Jeans came in 1981 as a tried coach.
I’d love us to commit to Sam for at least 2025. While I’m expecting another down year next year, due to his aggressive approach to rejuvenating the list, the club should stick by him.
Imo the plan should be 2021-2024 rejuvenating the list, means a lot of pain as we experiment with those we keep, and those that get culled. Also means some excitement and hope as we see the new young players improve.
2024-2028 playing finals on a regular basis. A bit of ups and downs for us supporters, as we will still be a little bit inconsistent.
2027-2031 should be about winning as many premierships as we can, as we have a strong nucleus of players that can and will take us to that level.
So if by 2025 we are still a mid bottom team, then yes we can then get rid of Sam, as his tactics have proven to be a failure. However if he is ticking all the boxes, he has us playing competitive finals football, then the initial investment by being loyal to him has paid off.
This is where we are at, but in order to be successful we need stable leadership in committing to a long term coach. The worst thing we can do is be like North, Carlton, Essendon, St.Kilda ect by getting rid of the coach when results don’t go as planned. They change coaches more times than what they change their undies. We did that in the early 90’s to mid 2000’s where we had Joyce, Knights, Judge and Schwab, where Joyce was the most successful, due to being a part of the Jeans regime. The others were complete flops. We became relevant because the club stuck with Clarkson initially amid supporter backlash at the time.
Apologies for the rant and going off topic, but keeping Sam is a no brainer for me! As I do believe that Sam has the right mindset in delivering us more premiership success, we as supporters have to be patient and mindful while he builds towards that. Where we are at there is no quick fixes.
With an unstable board environment, as it currently stands, where the incumbent president has finally admitted to losing 15mil in funding by opening his mouth to put his opinion across. fumbled around the coaches appointment last year, by placing the current coach into an awkward and embarrassing situation With his former coach. Alienating the former coach with his dislike of the former coach, due to both of their outspoken personalities. Supposedly put stipulations on the board when he returned for board unity, where everyone had to agree with his directive. Has isolated past players, mainly by opening his mouth. Has quite often voiced his opinion on every other club and the AFL on a regular basis, rather than focusing on Hawthorn, quite often being seen as an embarrassment.
We need to get back to the Ian Dicker style of presidency, where he was seen, occasionally heard, but appeared to be very down to earth, compared to the narcissism of Kennett. With Dicker he appeared as if he was there having BBQ’s having a smile, having a chat to supporters, raising memberships by being accessible. With Kennett, it’s corporate lunch’s, late night tweets, getting on the radio so he can hear his own voice and being dismissive of everyone around him, in effect pushing supporters away because of his own ego.
When not President, called for the than coach to be sacked, only for that coach to win the next 3 premierships. Voiced his interest in joining Melbourne as its President in 2013. The same club that he voted for, in a take over bid of our club. (Yes it was called a merger, but the conditions of the merger was more of a takeover).

Maybe once he is off our board, he might consider joining Melbourne’s board again
Seriously staggered to read this, these guys are so uneducated. They are willing to back an administration that barely has a women in an executive position, floundered through the racism issues and a board that has a history of intimidating people into not standing. How disappointing.
