I expect Clarko and Fagan to get a slap on the wrist such is the lack of faith I have in the AFL and it’s integrity unit.

I’m expecting they’ll be made to attend a 2 hour course to ‘re-educate’ them on how not to be a shitty human being (in public).

How long until the media start painting these two as victims?
AFL Integrity is one of the greatest oxymorons of all time.

I doubt Sean Burgoyne endured what the complainants have alleged happened to them and their families at the dawks, as a very experienced player married to the daughter of a famous footballer who Clarkson would have known well during his time at Alberton he should have been isolated from that, and as reported it appears it was the younger and potentially more vulnerable individuals who were specifically targeted (standard bullying), whether he knew about it, and/or how discriminating the situation is alleged to have been is the unknown.

This debacle may push Shaun’s kids our way instead of there way.

In some ways, this is the sort of thing that Matt Rendell was forecasting. He was very clumsy in the way he said it, but this is an extreme example of the way of thinking that he could see clubs engaging in. Perhaps he was aware of some of the goings on at Hawthorn around the same time.

There is always two sides to a story, but I’d have thought any discussions like this would be with the club pyschologist and initiated by the concerned person, not by coaches.

Pretty hard to come back from this reputation wise for the staff members.
They are sports psychologists. My cousin is one for the British Olympic team. They are measured by performance metrics. Also very hard to confide in a coach when they are the perpetrators.

clarko should really be sacked from north as punishment for being a bully at hawthorn and sit out for 12 months...then join port

Maybe the North job IS the punishment.

This will either lead to each club conducting a similar report and things are not going to be pretty (including for us I would think at some levels) or....

The AFL will make some noises say some things produce some shiny objects and it will be swept under a pretty massive rug.

I know which one I will put my AFL endorsed and sponsored betting money on.

No one important will lose their job. Those that think it is all woke (rather than a systemic issue in society) will make their noises and we carry on.

Or we could acknowledge it and make change.

A disgusting read about the sort of person Alastair Clarkson is and how football clubs (Hawthorn) operate.

The Klu Klax Klan of the AFL strikes again.

No wonder Buddy got out of there. I wonder if some of his chemical assistance was driven by this.

No way should the AFL be listening to Clarko for any assistance for North until this has been cleared, probably in 18 months time

From everything spoken about regarding Buddy, the distraction of a young family was never an issue for him.

Well, a legitimate one anyway.

The ABC are running this as their headline story and an AFL investigation is underway. Maybe we should hold judgement until the investigation has been completed?
Hawthorn commissioned an external review panel because they found out shit was going on and said we have to get to the bottom of this.

The AFL disintegrity unit will now try and control the story and cover up what they can.

I would have doubts that Hawthorn are the only club that has acted like this with their young indigenous draftees.
I don't know, we know that Clarkson is an exceptionally ruthless coach, more than others. Now the dark side of that is in the open. I do very much doubt other coaches are pushing players to get their partners to have abortions.

What about removing players from partners with no kids. Read the full story not just the headlines. What about if a brother confided in him and it affected him and then he decided to get out.

You'd reckon every footy club would have incidents of racism occuring every year, unfortunately. They are a 'broad church'.

It's what organisations accept and / or walk by that is controllable. That's what stinks about the way Chad indicated the PAFC had handled the social media incident.

The AFLPA’s response is comical, literally torn from a Roy & HG script. “We need an independent, roots and all probe!”

The AFL Players Association chief executive Paul Marsh has released a statement.

“The AFL Players’ Association is extremely concerned about the details of the report relating to player and partner experiences while at the Hawthorn Football Club.

“We have spoken to the AFL and communicated our expectations that an independent investigation must be conducted. It should also be well-resourced and wide-ranging in scope.

“In the meantime, the affected players and partners will continue to have the full support of the AFLPA through our various programs and services. These services will also be reinforced to all members of the AFLPA.”

How could the PA not be aware of any of this until now. Please….

I wouldn't count on our club being totally clean when it comes to institutional racism. I mean it might not have reached the levels of Hawthorn or Adelaide but remember this from a short time back?

Wasn't sure where to put this post but seeing as it falls under David Koch's tenure as chairman, then it should probably sit here.

Article about Chad Wingard and his experiences with racism in AFL.

The second paragraph struck me as being very pointed:

Now this was Chad's 2nd or 3rd season according to the article. At this time we had a well established indigenous affairs person in Paul VB and touted our credentials in attracting and nurturing indigenous talent, on top of a raft of community level initiatives to support the indigenous communities of SA. It beggars belief that we would be so dismissive of Wingard's concerns.

If this is true, what it says about our club's leadership, then and now, is that we are weak willed and unwilling to make a stand or to make waves. Which fits with a number of other issues around the club over the past decade. That's entirely down to leadership.

We exist to make sure the pot doesn't get stirred.
