Just read it and wow I am just sickened by the conduct at the Hawthorn FC. The stories from this time will be coming out for years to come as the players who were there at the time retire.

PS any change Karl changes his mind? Would be all for keeping him.

Karl Amon doesn’t want to be part of this footy club. He’s tried to leave 3 times.

While it seems most draftees these days go through academies or private schools, I wonder if this sort of thing also happens to anyone drafted from an under-privileged background. Get them away from supposedly unprofessional influences.

Of course if Andrew Newbold feels the need (or is forced) to step down from the AFL Commission over this scandal, that creates an opening for....Eddie McGuire!
Yep, sounds ideal. We'll need someone without baggage, and specifically someone who is totally above any racist behaviour.

Heaven help us

Fagan on a "leave if absence".

That would have to make you a bit jumpy.if you were a recruit?

The Lions are reportedly considering the prospect of standing head coach Chris Fagan down from his post at the club following recent allegations embroiling the 61-year-old during his time at Hawthorn.

During his nine-season stint with the Hawks as both an assistant coach and general manager, Fagan - along with other staff members including then head coach Alastair Clarkson - was alleged to have played an active role in displacing First Nations players from their families, fraying their relationships, cruelling their mental health and/or hindering pregnancies, including requests for termination.

Read most of it. The only surprise is that this happened in the 21st century, not the 19th.

To those who haven’t read it, do. Prepare for a wave of disgust followed by immense sadness. I just had to wipe a tear from my eye. I have never been so ashamed of being a white Australian.

It is important to remember that the allegations need to be proven. That said, the ABC’s legal department must have looked at this very, very carefully. If proven the penalty for all those involved has to be a ban from working at an AFL club for a decade or more.

This is career ending stuff for all involved.

Yeah, my reaction was disbelief and then a wave of sadness that the sport I follow seemingly accepts such behaviours. This is the kind of stuff one sees in the history books and claims that we're better than that now :(.

Even Gill is going to have to take action here. I see that one of the clubs involved has already done so. He can't leave this to his successor and he can't sweep it under the carpet. I would imagine AFL and relevant club sponsors are looking closely at this too.

Reminded me of this from former Hawthorn assistant Adam Simpson in 2021:
"We just don’t have that anymore and you’re more inclined to go safer in the draft and you’ll draft the same type of player," he said.

"You know, mum and dad are still married, the kids go to the private school. They’re not too much of a hassle off-field.”
