Worpel still burns the ball too much to be elite. O’mera basically has the same amount of effective disposals when you take that into account.

But that's not his main job. His main job is to win possession and pass it off to better ball users. That said he's not as bad as you think.

Last 4 games disposal efficiency is at 74% for Worpel. He also averages more contested possessions so of course his disposal deficiency is not as good as O'Meara. That said O'Meara is not really gaining many metres with his possessions or involved in a lot of scoring from them.

That’s overplayed way too much by the state, who seem to care more if a clearance lands on a players chest than of it got us 40m up the ground.

They have different roles in each team but if we’re comparing them you need to take disposal efficiency into account.

If we’re going off the last 4 games now O’mera is getting over 25 touches and 6 tackles. In the past 5 we only lost the one he missed.

I have watching him closely from a Supercoach perspective and he still needs to work on it.

I did take it into account and I just showed you that Worpel has made a marked improvement in efficiency the last month. He's also an elite centre clearance player (second in the AFL). Is there anything O'Meara is elite in? Nope.

There's no don't doubt Hawthorn is a better team now with Worpel at centre bounces than with O'Meara. And please spell Jaeger's surname correctly.

Hopefully Leadership but the AFL stats don't cover that. I also recon he would be elite in Team output vs team wage cost for 2023.

Yep that's the ONLY thing he's elite in.

Will you be paying him the same salary when the Hawks stop paying a portion of it? 🤔

What worries me about Hawthorn is that they have a **** load of cap space (despite paying some of JOM's salary to Freo)

They are going to be major players in the Free Agency and Trade markets, if not this year, then definitely next season and beyond.

They are well placed to be regarded as a destination club (again)

Unless it's a gun forward (which won't happen) or very good young player I don't think I want to sign any free agents.

The Hawks will probably start to offer higher contacts to their current playing list.

I still think another gun A grade midfielder wouldn't go astray for the Hawks (Noah Anderson would have been ideal for the Hawks, alas he re-signed for a few more years at Gold Coast)

I admit there seems to be a bit of slim pickings in this year's Free Agency/Out of Contract market, so I think the Hawks are better off waiting (for next year and beyond)
and you still have the funds to re-contract the young players you want to keep (can't help but think that Tyler Brockman may want to return home to WA though)

Our list manager has stated that we will be aggressive in that space. Particular focus being KPP.

Perhaps it wouldn't go astray, however from these 7, best 22 mids (Day, Newcombe, Nash, Worpel, Mackenzie, Ward, MacDonald), only one has likely proven what their ceiling is as a footballer (Worpel).

The other 6 have years of development and improvement still left in them.

We may already have that A grade mid. In fact, according to Champion Data we already have him, and his name is Jai Newcombe.

A key position forward to partner Mitch Lewis is the biggest need. I love Kosi, but I'm not so sure he can be that guy when we are (hopefully) contending in 3-5 years time.

Jai is almost what I thought O'Meara would turn out like when Gold Coast drafted Jaeger.

There is nothing O'Meara does better than Jai. Nothing.

Agree. Definitely sorted for mids. Newk’s kicking into the F50 in recent weeks has been sublime. Absolute A grader. Day, McKenzie and McDonald might also be elite. Ward will be a solid best 18 player - a better version of Liam Shiels.
We have McCabe F/S 197cm KPD coming next draft and Ramsden showing plenty as a 200cm KPF @ Box Hill. Our list profile is just about sorted. Just need to add a classy tallish forward with pick 4 this year, then get games into them.

Underselling Ward a **** ton here. His ceiling is super high, look at someone like Andy Brayshaw but that mould of a gut running classy midfielder who is able to do it inside and out.

Even if we forget about Cam MacKenzie and Josh Ward, we’ve got another young mid, often overlooked, tracking to be an A grader in his own right.

On the right is Petracca’s numbers at the same age(22).

Ridiculous how he's a MSD pick. I still remember his debut, where he laid 11 tackles, and thought he'd be a good honest trier who'd bring some physicality. Had no idea he'd end up being so classy; he's not a kick and hope player, his delivery verges on sublime.

Yep showing a lot more than expected by many, so guys just entering FA will see them as a chance for a flag in a few years.

14 tackles 😉

Speak for yourself.
Hahahaha you have no good kids at Geelong even though you tried to get some desperately in the trade period - which failed miserably mind you. Bowes is rubbish (incl the trade), Henry was better at Collingwood, Bruhn is ok, Holmes and De Koning are the only two kids on your list that are solid.

What's scary abt our list is that the kids we have aren't even the most talented kids in the comp.. we never had any top 3 picks or anything and still been able to develop and find good talent. Just another reason why opposition teams are sulking over us.

Cats aren't making the finals this year. No Selwood, no Geelong. It's over. Enjoy your 2023 flag for the next decade.
