Carlton won the same number of games last year without Walsh, than Hawthorn won for the entire season.

We’d obviously love him out there, but it’s a fallacy to suggest we’re no good without him.

From my rough calculations carlton played 26 games last year including finals. We won 15 drew 1 and lost 10.

Sam Walsh played 18 games for 8 wins and 10 losses.

Once again from my calculations that means of the 8 games that Sam missed we won 7 and drew 1.

He's a great player but from these figures not irreplaceable.

There would be 1% of our fans that think “we’re going to be good this year”..that’s if good means making the 8. There’s also a 1% of that happening.

The majority of our supporters would like to see a steady improvement on last season, where we won 7 games but copped a lot of hidings.

The majority of our fans would be more than satisfied with 8-9 wins and a % of 90.. that would result in us finishing 15th which is still bottom 4…imo that wouldn’t be a bad result as I’m a realist and know where our list is at.

I don't claim to speak for all North fans. If there was a thread 'Can NMFC play finals' I would be very embarrassed.

My own (very optimistic) belief is that we are trending in the right direction while other bottom teams are trending down (Rich, Hawthorn, Essendon etc).

I'll concede Richmond but that's more to do with their list demographics.

Pains me to say but the Bombers seem to be improving. They might have gone a bit hard on getting some geriatrics in to their list but at least Goldy looked good on the weekend.

I've been consistent on this since last year. In fact I think I recall you, SYL and Smosh challenging me on this issue in September 2023.

But I'll repeat it again now; I firmly believe this will be Hawthorns bottoming-out year. Last year gave you false hope that you were further ahead of your rebuild than you actually are, and this year will be a crash to earth.

I have you as bottom two with the Eagles. I think the Hawks win max six games.
