Hawthorn to play finals in 2024?

I agree, I think we will, but I also think we'll be inconsistent again. We'll have some great wins, but we'll also have some shockers.
Regardless you will improve and all that matters is that you're headed in the right direction.

You guys are on the right path. I'd be excited if I was a Hawks fan. You can see the trajectory that you guys are on. It's very positive. You'll be amongst it in the coming years 100 percent.

33-year-old Casboult was a preferred option in 2023. It tells you all you need to know about Chol. He for sure has talent but often is lazy, does not work hard. It's in his DNA.
Been to a few training sessions over summer and could not be happier with Cholā€™s endeavour, effort and intensity with his tackling, chasing, hitting packs ā€¦ā€¦. for his size/height his athleticism is impressive. Will keep an eye on this and only time will tell but thatā€™s quite disrespectful from what Iā€™ve seen. Granted Iā€™m not a Tigers or Suns supporter but can comment while heā€™s wearing the brown and gold!

What is disrespectful? Even Chol admitted he did not work hard at training, struggled with consistency.
That's exactly how Chol presented himself in Suns colours. Why do you think Casboult was a preferred option and Dimma was only happy for him to move on while still under contract.

Chol had some great moments but also some lazy, not working hard moments, sometimes not chasing, often complaining about delivery.

As I said, he has a lot of talent and I actually enjoyed watching him. Suns fans were pretty happy with Chol in his first year when King was injured. Casboult and Chol together did better job than most fans expected.

Personally, I wanted to keep Chol as a depth for one more year while Walter develops. He was not on crazy money. But I am not Dimma.

I honestly hope, he takes his 3rd chance and worked on his attitude and consistency. I wish him only the best. He is funny and friendly guy. Let's see how he goes over the length of his contract.

Not sure the personal insults are necessary but anyway ā€¦
Your personal preference for Blanck over McKay was obviously not shared by the list management team.
Are you happy with the KPD pairing of Blanck and Frost?

We wanted to pair Blanck and McKay.

Two big dumb gorillas who can finally let Sicily play as a pure interceptor like Stewart.

Itā€™s a bit of an annoying cliche that ā€œrebuilds are not always linearā€ but I think it could actually be pretty apt for the Hawks this year.

Even before injury struck there were no guarantees with a young side, but now that some key personnel have gone down itā€™s hard to see them improving in the win column this year. 7 wins looks about right again.

Certainly canā€™t see them getting near finals, and to be fair most of their supporters seem to be of the same opinion. Not getting a sense that anyoneā€™s getting ahead of themselves.

2025 is shaping as the big moving year for them.

Chol was great for us in his first season; heā€™ll be great for the Hawks in his first season for them, too. He also looked great as an up-and-coming player for the Tigers initially, too. The question mark will be his second and subsequent seasons when complacency can start creeping back into his game, like it did with the Tigers and Suns. He just seems to lose interest after a certain point; reality is you canā€™t coach how hard a person trains, thatā€™s just something you can only alert a person to in team meetings and hopefully they turn themselves around. His destiny is really in his own hands.

Agree Sicily needs to play interceptor.
No value having him wrestle with the big boys.
Looks like itā€™ll have to be Frost and DGB.
DGB out of contract this year ā€¦ he swims or sinks ā€¦

I think we're a certainty to pick up Phillips as a SPP. It will probably be a pairing of Scrimshaw (CHB) and one of Frost/DGB/Phillips at FB.

I guess we'll find out more over the praccy matches.

Brave. Hawks can't contain Jones/Wright especially if the Bombers also throw Draper forward at times.. it might get ugly.
Nah. New beginnings at Hawthorn mate. The G will be a happy hunting ground for you guys. More experience now with the younger lads, you'll be a dark horse his year.

Hawks forward line is looking dangerous!
Gunston and Breust already are proven goal sneaks. Lewis is on the rise and Ginnivan is a jack in the box. Dangerous on his day as we've all seen. Chol can play anywhere on the ground even forward. This is what makes you guys very dangerous. You have various avenues at goal.

Scrimshaw have the size and physicality for the position?

Did alright last season at CHB. He lacks size and strength but can hurt opposition on the rebound with his kicking and intercept marking. Take the good with the bad I suppose.

We aren't really in a position at KPD to be too choosy.

Modern footy is all about team defense these days anyway so we are going to live and die by whether our midfield can A) Win and keep the ball and B) Pressure the opposition when we lose it.

Second half of last season we were excellent at A but need improvement on B.
