Does anyone have any idea what this is all about? They have it up on the front page of the AFL section. And reads:

"The AFL season may have finished, but SuperFooty has the cure for your offseason blues: SuperTeam. It's our new footy game where you get to take on history's best teams. It starts on Monday."

I miss my Fantasy Footy in the offseason, hope this turns out to be alright.. I rely on EPL during summer to get my fix

Welcome to Herald Sun SuperTeam, the all-new off-season fantasy footy game where you get to take on the greats. Each 'round' over the next 10 weeks, you'll have $6 million dollars to pick your best 18 players, who'll match up against some of the greatest grand final sides in recent history as selected by the Herald Sun's footy experts - from Richmond in 1973 to Geelong of 2007.

Herald Sun SuperTeam is fantasy footy with a difference. You'll select your players from the class of 2008 to match-up head-to-head against their direct opponents. If your player scores more points then his opponent, you get a win. Can you win all 18 match-ups?

Random score within the range your players hit this year vs. extrapolated score from their players' grand final performances. Salary cap is too low to make a properly strong team, so seems the best strategy to get maximum wins is to put a $60k rookie on your Bartels and try to beat everyone else.

:D Ryley dunn is going to SMASH bartel!! :D

They need to have a cheat code in there where playing Crowley on Ablett causes him to play crap and miss the next two week...

Just put sh!t players next to the highest scoring Geelong players, and put good players next to the lower scoring players & go from there.

I'll be going with 6-7 dud players against Ablett, Bartel, Chapman, Milburn etc... so I have the money to win most of the other match ups.

Are the prices of the players to choose from possible what their prices might be next year?

Ablett under 700k suggests no

Anyone got a league..or wants to start one?

Heh, just got into this habit at work, people ask you how to do things, ignore it for a week and then send them an email. Invariably they will have worked it out for themselves ;).

That doesn't seem to work in my office, people keep asking... then they start cc'ing in the higher ups...

hmmmm, I wonder if I can CC this post to Kildo?

I've conceded 7 (Scarlett, Bartel, Corey, Ottens, Chapman, Johnson, Mooney), automatically won 7 (Harley, Hunt, Ling, Rooke, N Ablett, Kelly, Stokes) and given myself an excellent shot at the last four (Enright, Mackie, Milburn, G Ablett)

Is there any chance at all that a player can score below their yearly minimum?

Nah, I don't think it is posible. :)

I wonder if form is going to mean anything...

ie, say Swan starts the first 4 rounds at the top end of his scale, will the scale move? will he be more likely to do better the next week that Bartel, who's been camped out at the bottom end for the first 4 weeks?

...

who knows... :)

C Cornes Osborne, Higgins , Cotchin, Jack
Simmonds
Deledio,Richo,D Motlop,Milne,Staker,B Ebert.

Took forever but used up every last dollar of the $6m salary cap.

I've accounted for nine definite wins, two should wins, seven won't wins (all cheapo draftees). For all positions except for ruck at least half the players will beat their opponent based on lowest score compared to 2007 grand final score, possibly more (depending on the 1-2 should wins).

BTW, it is a pure fluke that I just happened to use up the salary cap exactly. That's enough for one evening I think...

i got 4 wins and 300-350 points, the winner this round had 12 wins and 1100-1200 points. he conceded bartel, ablett, chapman and enright i think and went crazy on the rest. he may have conceded 2 or 3 more but that does seem to be the way to go.

the north team should build everyones points and wins, half the players would struggle to get over 80 i reakon
