As above.

A friend of mine on here(American Hawk) told me about this forum so I figured I might as well join lol. As per my avatar, I decided to be a Suns fans instead of a Hawks fan like him(He gives me grief all the time). I also teach special education and have recently gotten into Pickeball, though am quite crap at it so far tbf.

Other sports teams I follow: Titans in the NRL, Mainz and Crystal Palace when it comes to soccer, and the Commanders in the NFL. Also if you want to talk boxing, I'm your man.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Yank! Fell in love with the game in 2016. Started my podcast in 2019, and over 430 episodes into the journey. I think footy is the greatest game on the planet.
Awesome! Will give it a listen here later on. Don't know enough about the league yet to really be a great guest haha but maybe at some point!

Hi and welcome from one special ed teacher to another. Best job in the world! Good on you for not selecting the Hawks. Horrible club.

I'm a Queenslander so have a soft spot for the Suns (and Lions).

Hey Ralph - welcome to the ridiculous show.

Quick one, we've just recently moved to SLC & wondering the best way to keep watching the greatest game on Earth?

Do you use WatchAFL or some other method that may or may not be fully kosher?
I'm thinking of using WatchAFL, but I don't use Apple & the only other way of streaming the games on my TV is through Chromecast (which is now discontinued & no one seems to know what they'll update to. Well done AFL!!!).

Tbh due to the time difference, I very rarely, if ever, watch the games live. I tend to watch the replays on the AFL website when they put them up. Sometimes they take more than 24 hours, which stinks, but that is usually how I have done it.

But yes, some illegal ways to watch them live if you can haha.

Thanks friend.

I've tried watching 2024 replays through the app just to test & it redirects me to WatchAFL.
Oh well, just like the NBA it seems illegal streams is the only way!

When you decide which club you want to support (enjoy that journey!), you'll want to sign up for an international membership with your club. It is about $150 US, and you'll get some team "swag", along with (at least in my club's case), a $20 voucher to use in the team shop, and access to WatchAFL. It has all of the games live (and on demand, with the commercials cut out), going back (as of now) to 2022. It also has all of the TV programming that is on the Fox Footy channel (and there are quite a few).

As for watching the games on your TV, that is easily resolved. A cheap Chromebook, and an HDMI cable plugged into your TV, and there you go. I have a Chromebook that I use exclusively for this (but would love it if there was a WatchAFL app on Roku). Feel free to shoot me a note on my website (ayankonthefooty.com) or my email: ayankonthefooty@gmail.com (I'm a 31 year teacher myself).

Brings a (metaphorical not actual) tear to the eye to see Americans enjoying AFL.
Welcome aboard fellas.

When I was over in Seattle in 2009 during the Geelong V St Kilda grand final, I was at a pub and had to beg the bar staff to flick on the GF on one of their screens.

They finally did, and literally nobody bat an eye lid on the game which was disappointing.

I understand that AFL had a bit of momentum in the 1980's in terms of USA coverage on TV but that seemed to dwindle as the decades went on. And there was a rumour that the 50 metre lines were introduced so Americans can relate to it, with Gridiron and all that...
