What else to teenagers watch in that timeslot? Temptation? Whatever repeat or reality show Channel Ten puts on? The news?

By and large, 'Home and Away' is still the most watched program on Australian television.

Home and Away is the worst show on television. Everything about this show is poor - the acting, the casting, the direction, and, of course, the writing. Only dumb people watch this show. It absolutely stuns me how it gets the ratings it does.

I think the thing with Neighbours is because it's set in a suburb of Melbourne, it makes sense that people are at uni or have interesting jobs (eg when Amy was a flight attendant) plus it tends to focus more on the relationships of the people (eg people cheating) then a series of disasters like Home and Away.
I mean you have to go to the shops in Yabby Creek, but there's a giant high school and hospital in Summer Bay and you can commute daily to uni?

You don't need to watch something a lot to realize how pathetic it is. And, all you have to do is read the TV week every week and watch advertisements to get an idea of the storylines they're running.
I don't watch the show - because I hate it. Because it's bad. It's terrible. I know of a lot of people who only watch it because it's bad (go figure).
I'm definitely not a fan of Neighbours either, but Jesus H. Christ. "I don't like this because it's gay." You're an idiot.
Neighbours is going through a bit of a flat spot this year, the prevalence of the god-awful Stuart and Sindi doesn't help this one little bit either.
I hope they're working towards something (such as re-uniting Karl and Susan), because there doesn't seem to be much direction in the writing lately.
I may be wrong though, I haven't been a regular viewer since the Kennedys divorced.

I liked the plot-line where Alf Stewart kept putting lsd in the flaming water supply, but then got taken down because of Morag's videos of him rodgering Sally's pet goat. But then it was all a dream.
