CoggaRules said:wow, we are in some pretty deep crap dudes. How on earth Aus ended up with such an extremist loonie at the helm is beyond me.
medusala said:Extremist? Well I suppose you could call adherence to multicultural programs, extraordinarily penal tax rates, massive aboriginal funding, welfare state expansion etc extremist.
Didnt know you were a member of the Adam Smith fan club.

medusala said:That Howard does spend a fortune on aboriginal affairs, welfare, the multicultural industry etc is a matter of record as is insistence on penal tax rates.
Whilst Fairfax and the ABC might like to think Howard is some sort of right wing demagogue, like Fraser he is simply a socialist, albeit one who hates unions.

CoggaRules said:Yes indeed, you can spend a fortune in many ways cant you?
It all depends who you spend it with that isnt on record.
Like how about if suggested i am going to spend a million dollars on say, for arguments sake with a bookie, to prove to you that i bet. You will immediately think, gee, i bet, but you dont immediately think, if the bookie is going to take the cash and hand it back to me, since we have a deal that its purely done for PR. ITs on the record as a million being spent though isnt it?
Daytripper said:Exactly why he'll win the next election.
The common wage-earner has never been better off than under this government.
As much as the left like to whinge and complain, the fact is he has the support of the majority of this nation despite the frenzied attempts by the above-mentioned media to sway them.
CoggaRules said:dont know how old you are dude, but i would be asking the common-wage earners during Goughs time about how things were with him. You will be very surprised.
How about you think about how much harder you are working now, not because you want to, because you have to, and how many members of the family have to work because of the same, and what effect it has on the overall family, before you jump to cliched conclusions that are aligned to what you bring home in the pay packet and what goes out in medical premiums etc.
Daytripper said:They obviously weren't that good with Gough as he got thrown out of office and couldn't get back in.
Howard however has been voted back in time after time after time (and it kills you too. ).
People vote with their hip pocket. If things aren't working well economically then that government will soon be out on its ear.
Name me one country that has this utopia you talk about ?
Just one.

medusala said:unemployed or very worried about becoming unemployed and struggling to stay afloat with inflation going through the roof.
CoggaRules said:naa dude, dont forget the topic was the common wage-earner, not the non wage earner.
medusala said:Gough managed to turn plenty of the former in to the latter.
CoggaRules said:yeah maybe he did, maybe the global economic climate forced his hand.
