More info on Ian Downsborough
A ruckman and key position player who was drafted by West Coast from West Perth with an eye to grooming him as the replacement for Paul Harding. Short for a ruckman, he compensated by competing strongly and although he would not be a number one ruckman, he could fill a role as a back-up ruck and key position man. A good clubman, he was released by the Eagles so they could secure Michael Gardiner. In 1997 he suffered a virus that restricted his availability for the Power and his SANFL club, Norwood. He was then a stand-by ruckman for the Crows over 1998-99.
