The broadcast of Super Saturday could include reviews of the season gone during the quarter time breaks, previews of finals, review of players. One $15 ticket gets you to see the best U18 talent in the country, the best female talent in the country and the best state league talent in the country. I think this fixture over the day could get 40,000 quite comfortably. The state league clubs didn't take the Foxtel Cup properly because it gave them no benefits. Make it to the MCG on Super Saturday and they get national attention.

EJ Whitten match and Women's grandfinal.

One Friday night other Saturday whenever.

All stars shouldn't be an option as players are supposed to be resting.

Problem with any type of all star match is that there's no chance the top 8 sides will let anyone play making it a farce.

Ideal time for either u18s or state grand final if they can organise it.

Problem with those saying EJ whitten is 9 has the rights. 7 will want something.

I like the Under 18 Vic vs Allstars!!

You might ..

Like the wank Vic fest we had a few years ago in the SoO.

SoO only works if there are... states. Allies can suck balls. Particularly for SA and WA supporters

Why are they still bothering with the floating round 23 fixture if there's a bye the following week?

They want to fixture a big TV Monday Night game as the last game of the H&A season which would have big finals implications.
It will still be hard to predict this correctly even a few weeks out though... could end up putting something like Richmond v North on the Monday Night and get a farce. If they want to do this, they should keep the 3 Sunday games still "floating" and announce which one will be promoted to Monday Night just one week before... bit like how the NFL does it with their last Sunday Night game of the regular season.

I don't see how a week off will prevent finals bound sides that have nothing to play for in the final round from resting players.

I'm not a fan of the bye week... absolutely kills the momentum going into finals... the final round this year had little interest given that the 8 was already set a whole week before and it would have had to have taken some bizarre/upset results to change the expected ladder... now add a week off on top of something like that... zzzzzzz.

The other thing is that it is more than likely the Grand Finalists will end up playing only playing 3 games in the 5 weeks leading up to the GF.... do they really need 2 byes in the lead up, I guess its a bit like 1st back in the Final 5 days.

Maybe the alternative to all of this would be to spread Week 1 of the finals over 2 weeks.... Elim Finals in Week 1, Qualifying Finals in Week 2.

Friday Night: EJ Whitten match

Saturday: Women's footy: Dees v Dogs
Saturday night: Under 18's Vics v All stars: Get the best 44 kids in the draft playing against each other

Sunday: All Australian team announced

Throw the Brownlow in there and you are onto something. Grand Final week will manage on its own somehow ;)

A representative u-18's game (All-Star?) on Friday night. Have a whole heap of the media who cover Supercoach etc call or give special comments for the game.

Brownlow Medal Count on Saturday Night.

All-Australian Team announcement on Sunday night.

Nothing will happen. State league and local finals will get big crowds though, imagine a packed Windy Hill for Essendon vs Box Hill or a packed Alberton for Port Magpies vs Norwood though.

The reason i like the under 18 thing is it would give teams who miss the 8 something to look forward to. Doesnt have to be a state thing. Two 22s of the best 18 year olds in the country head to head a month before the draft on prime time friday night with (hopefully) a decent crowd there.

Make it an event.

The draft night would be richer for it as everyone would know players a bit better. It would also be a great thing to look back historically. You could rotate the game around the country.
