If you're looking for a good comedy, I suggest you either rent or buy a movie entitled "Idiocracy." Has anyone here seen it? I found it to be hilariously funny. :thumbsu: Here's a summary from imdb:

Joe Bauer, an Army librarian, is judged to be absolutely average in every regard, has no relatives, has no future, so he's chosen to be one of the two test subjects in a top-secret hibernation program. He and hooker Rita were to awaken in one year, but things go wrong and they wake up instead in 2505. By this time, stupid people have outbred intelligent people; the world is (barely) run by morons--and Joe and Rita are the smartest people in America.

I've seen it. I like how they present the future as being dumb, rather than how most stories show people as being far better/smarter. Refreshing change. Was an ok movie.

Comedy? Hilarious?........I watched it last night and thought it was a horror movie!

Seriously, it was very funny, but also pretty scary.........I think it's probably closer to the reality of what the future will be, than a film like Bladerunner for example.
It really is the kind of movie that you watch alternating between laughing and cringing.

JB has got heaps of copies for $10 - I had never heard of it before, don't think it had a cinema release in Australia. Grabbed it from the bargain bin while I was waiting in the ridiculously long queue the other day...yep, left the Christmas shopping until the last minute!

I'm so getting it on Boxing Day.

Employee of the month, both have Dax Shepard in it.

That's actually a decent enough film.

It copped a hiding in the media, not because it was overly horrible, but simply because Jessica Simpson was in it.

It also had a few of the Seinfeld alumni in it, with Babu, Kramer's friend Mickey and one other than i can't recall.

Also due to the fact that for some reason EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE WORKED ON EVERY SINGLE DAY

"Well, don't want to sound like a dick or nothin', but, ah... it says on your chart that you're ****ed up. Ah, you talk like a ***, and your shit's all ******ed. What I'd do, is just like... like... you know, like, you know what I mean, like... " lol classic.

Saw this movie a few months with a strong reccomendation from a mate and wasn't disappointed. It was a Mike Judge film, so there wasn't much chance of it being terrible.

Now a few mates and I can't talk about sports drinks without doing the plants bit. :p

"Brawndo's got what plants crave"....."Its got electrolites"

"But what are electrolites?" "..what plants crave?"

It's what's used to make Brawndo.

:D

I finally snagged a copy last week and watched it Friday.

It's not a great film, but as comedies go it was pretty solid.
The social commentary was quite intelligent though, but i wouldn't expect anything less from Mike Judge.

I'm not surprised it bombed in America given so many probably wouldn't truly 'get' the point Mike was making.

Terry Crews stole the show, as he does in everything.

"Man, I could really go for a Starbucks, y'know?"
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1009277/ "I don't really think we have time for a handjob, Joe"

One of the biggest flops I can think of in the past couple of years. Great idea. Terrible excacution. Avoid like the plague.
There were no expectations on it. How can it flop? To me, a flop is something that for some reason should do better than it did. I wouldn't have thought this to have been any more than a cult film.

It got quite positive reviews from the critics but the distributors put the slows on it and only released it on 6 screens in America.

It never had a chance to be a 'flop', or anything else.

Those in charge knew this movie was terrible and didn't want to spend the money on advertising and distribution. Straight to DVD was there only chance of salvaging anything.

Like i said. Good idea with an interesting satire. Might be watchable if you are studying sociology(despite the fact there are a billion holes in the 'stupid future society' ) but as a movie it's very poor. I wouldn't waste a lonely Sunday night on it.
