So do you think the umpires stopped giving him votes after the dangerous tackle or that the wrong name was read out by Gil?
Wrong name definitely.

Piss off and follow another sport then.

Seriously does my head in the imbeciles who say the sport is rigged every week, yet still hypocritely still follow it enough to support a team and post regularly on a footy forum.
If you don't believe there's any corruption in any sport then you're crazy.

The voting is clearly rigged against Geelong p,ayers though. If there was any justice in the AFL the coaches would be allowed to vote for Dangerfield in every game of the round. Hes just that good mate.
Despite the sarcasm, I wouldn't be against this.

Surely you can provide a better argument than "lol salt xD"
What do you expect from uneducated people?

In 2014, Fyfe who was ineligible and missed FOUR games just got pipped by Priddis. There was no complaining by Freo fans.

In 2017, Dangerfield misses just 1 game, is ineligible, loses by a whole 3 votes and Geelong fans think they've been robbed. Delusional
Fyfe was robbed. Priddis didn't deserve votes in R23 however that doesn't mean Priddis wasn't a worthy recipient nevertheless.

Likewise Martin.

It was a very convenient end to it all, especially round 22? Martin deserves to win, but i have no doubt the AFL were monitoring things after Dangerfield's suspension. They wanted no embarrassment here. You win some and lose some.

not at all, dusty did what he did
and given the umpires thought he carried the tigers this year

but the facts are there
richmond players were not penalised by the mrp where other players were suspended for similar acts
let alone the basher judgement which was a joke

Dusty was fined twice for nothing! That was shocking. Yes Trent Cotchin was more than lucky 3 times but at the end of the day Dusty never sooked or carried on and didn't do anything undisciplined.

He played effing outstanding footy! lets just leave it at that. All the other shit can be filled under the other players threads.

Ha. I'm sure you can recount those "3 or 4" times in vivid detail too, right?

On the thread topic - Dustin Martin was a deserving winner this year. Not much else to add.
Sliding into Ben Jacobs, forearm to Duryea's face and a trip against the Bulldogs.

No need to get upset.

What about Martin punching the Lions kid in the head?

Tbh idk why I'm bothering I'm happy for Dusty like I was for the previous two winners. Hopefully Sloane gets it next year.

Once a player is suspend they stop polling as many votes so the AFL doesn't get embarrassed. Its also just human nature, when thinking of who to allocate votes why would you give 3 to someone who cant win, its just a waste.

Not saying Danger would have won, but they definitely are not going to allow someone who is ineligible to "win" the brownlow, its just common sense.
What about Corey McKernan and Chris Grant?

Because he didnt punch him in the head?? Seriously dude there is no conspiracy.

Sorry, but I'm getting absolutely bloody sick of this corruption.
Yes, Dusty is an absolute champion - but somehow Mitch Duncan got 3 votes and Dangerfield got 0 in round 22 where Dangerfield got 32 possessions, 2 goals and 10 votes in the coaches association and Mitch Duncan got.......you guessed it......zero.
The same thing happened with Priddis scoring 3 votes on a very average game to leapfrog the ineligible Fyfe in the final round a few years ago.
No - it is not a conspiracy theory.
Please AFL. Stop treating us like mugs ffs.

Geelong salt would be saltier if Dangerfield did poll the most votes.

I know. Their current efforts to act as if Dangerfield should have got more votes here and there, but never lost any, nor would Martin have got any more...it's all such a stretch.

A 3 vote lead is fairly big for the Brownlow, especially when the winner achieved a record score.

But hey, Geetroit needs to develop some kind of industry before it becomes a complete ghost town and I suppose they've settled on working the salt mines...

Dusty got 30 touches, 14 score involvements, 6 clearances and 10 coaches votes v Carlton the 2nd time. 1 vote.
Cripps got 27 touches, 10 clearances, 5 score involvements and 3 coaches votes, his team got done by 4 goals. 3 votes.

and the burn of the tigers after saturday will be so much fun to watch
Yeah like we all believe we'll win it. I'm happy with the season regardless of Saturday's result. We're on the rise and it's not hard to tell, with conspiracy theories and salt in just about every thread.

We LOVE being hated!

The winner will be tainted and it will be the biggest farce since Ian Collins ensured C.Grant got given a match break for something not even considered worthy to be reported by the umpires.

The fact that the AFL has effectively altered its rules to stop a significant player and one other from being suspended for the grand final for an identical act to what Dangerfield got rubbed out for shows how tainted and hypocritical the MRP is.

There is no ability for the AFL to try and justify how the decisions were different and thus it is completely ridiculous that Dangerfield is not contending.

Why do I say within 3 votes? Because this is the number of eligible votes Dangerfield could have received had he played the game he got banned for.

This is another awesome example of the AFL having one rule in the season and another in the finals.
Pfft why so surprised?

Brownlow 2014;
M Priddis 26 votes
N Fyfe 25 votes

Fyfe gets rubbed out for one of the most accidental head clashes and is the guinea pig for the "chose to bump and collected the head" rule which we have since seen be applied at the MRPs discretion.

Misses 2 weeks for it.

Yeah he also got rubbed out in the second last game of the season for whacking Jordan Lewis but you won't convince me that if he was still eligible he wouldn't have kept his hands to himself.

So what do the AFL do? Rig the count and give it to Priddis who in that year, didn't make the AA squad, didn't poll well in the coaches votes or players award, nor win his own team's bnf.

I think we have seen enough evidence over the years to realize the AFL will manufacture the outcome they want.

BTW, I still think Danger had a case to answer for his sling tackle, Cotchin should have gone as he collected the head, Matt Priddis is a nice bloke who I hold no ill will toward and Dusty has been the best player this year.

My issue isn't about games he didn't get votes in. Players will always be fortunate to poll in some games, and unlucky not to poll in others. Both Dusty and Danger had that tonight.

My issue is that he missed a game for something that was far less than three of the incidents looked at before this GF which were cleared.

I will say that I never thought there was anything in the Sloane or Cotchin incidents, but B.Ellis can count himself very lucky. Danger's tackle was below all three, and yet he got a week and became ineligible for it. Bit of a joke really.

Ffs, surprises are part of the Brownlow, doesn't mean it's rigged. AA, coaches, players awards etc count for squat. The Brownlow isn't an award for the best player of the year, it's an award to who the umps think was the fairest and best. None of the people voting on all those other things are out on the field talking to the players all game, the umps get a different perspective than everyone else.

Coaches votes round 22
10 Dangerfield
8 Menegola
4 Hoskin-Elliot
3 Adams
2 Cox
2 Stewart
1 Murdoch

Brownlow votes
3 Duncan
2 Menegola
1 Adams

Piss off AFL. Don’t piss in my pocket and tell me it’s raining.

Why all the whining about Dangerfield not getting votes in a game? Even if he got 3 votes in every game he played he's still only covered HALF of what's required to win a Brownlow. Richmond supporters are so annoying because this is our best season for 35 years, but seriously, what's happened to Geelong supporters to make them so salty over the past few months?

Geelong salt is the best salt.

The umpires pull out shockers like this every single year. Don't pretend it's all a conspiracy.

The amount of times I have watched the Brownlow, thought a player was a shoe in for the 3 votes (often in games not affecting the overall winner) and they miss the votes completely. It is not uncommon.

Considering Dusty only bet Danger by 4 votes in the Coaches award, I find it highly unlikely he'd have won by 15 votes in a system where less votes are given out...

Given you guys are our Finals bunnys I can understand some bitterness, but build a bridge get over it
