Not trying to be condescending just curious as I tried a similar thing but went for an aggressive betting strategy instead.

Yup - quick summary is that I work out what weekly rate of return I need to hit my target and bet to earn that return. When there a lot of weeks left the required rate of return doesn't change too much and so the bets (when rounded to the nearest $) don't really change.

As the season progresses and if I don't get any winners the bet size will start to ramp up quite quickly.
