In the end we were good enough but not good enough

I dont know if you have seen the game, but three dodgy decisions cost us,

Mortons mark not being paid, straight after a disposal with one hand by the saints, and the delibarate point against mcGuane, Saints will slip out of the eight and challenge for the spoon in the next couple of years.

Should have won - we did all the hard stuff but couldn't do what needed to be done when it was pivotal. Grigg's miss and last centre clearance for the saints and the defensive backlin set ups and efforts both when Milne & Archer got the points were to easy for the saints. Marks in the forward 50 in the last 2 minutes when there is a few points in it - all this in the rain as well - should be near impossible. For them to get 2, was very disappointing.

The effort was flawless though, heart and passion was all there. they did an amazing job , especially with Jack down early.

Wil just drop in the utter bullshit of the McGuane "rushed" call. What a ****ing joke. If that isn't "under pressure" i don't know what is. Joke of a decision.

I think we need to look at the positive, we just drew with a team who has played in the last 2(3) grand finals, think back to the start of last year... the team is improving and that's all we asked. Was amazed we have less experience than Gold Coast.

Saints maturity and experience was going to tell in the end...

We are very, very frustrated but................. Saints will be absolutely pissed off... this hurts them a lot more than us.

Can definitely hold your heads up though, massive effort without Jack. I personally thought the umpiring was very even until the 4th quarter were the Saints seemed to get the better of the decisions. Unlucky not to get the points and awesome too see Lids back in the middle where he belongs.

umpiring played its part. Mortons mark hurt - but who is to say he would have kicked it. All i know is Grigg DID have a easy set shot at goal, and that is the one that missed.

Opportunity lost with or without the umpires, we know we didn't close the game out the way we should have.

Still a lot of things we need to work on, we all know that. And all these thing we know we have to work on are the reasons we didn't get the win.

completely agree with the umpiring. for 3 quarters i thought it was spot on, even with the "hot" holding the balls.

The problem was a bit, the umpire STOPPED the "hot" holding the ball decisions, to show some ( i guess )acknowledgment to the tense, tight nature of the last quarter. This is exactly why though the McGuane decision was absurd, the pressure he was under was definite and he was physically being tackled when he handballed it through. I don't blame the umpires though as i think we still had our chance to win it. The umpires didn't do much wrong in the final 2 minutes, and we were winning. We should have closed it out from there.

Very different performance from the boys tonight from last week. Great to see, they will take alot from the game including the knowledge they can more than compete with a grand finalist. GO TIGES !!!!

Grigg played a great game tonight, yes he missed a dolly but he did have 7 inside 50's. Don't forget Trent Cotchins miss in the 3rd, that hit the post, we would have been 14 points up.

Although I hate not winning tonight, our side is gathering momentum. You get the feeling that they are starting to hate losing.

Take heart from the fact your team has improved in leaps and bounds in the last 18 months.. You have a core group that will challenge for the top 4 within 2 or 3 years. Dustin Martin is almost an elite player now, very impressive

Trust me, i am just as filthy on Cotchin's miss, more so as i rate him our best kick.

Not hating on Grigg - his game was fantastic - but the reality is you don't win close games by missing shots like that in the final 10 minutes. Doing what needs to be done to win a game is the difference to winning or losing - and those basic skill errors under pressure at the pivotal times deserve to be scrutinized, otherwise we are accepting the same "close enough is good enough" mentality that has ****ed this club up for 30 years.

Yes Grigg had a great game, but yes his easy miss in the last 10 minutes was not good enough IF we want to win against good sides

the carlton supporter being more logical and optimistic than many of our supporters on here...wow...just wow :D

good post L_L

Take heart from the fact that we could have been beaten by a winning goal by either

1) Stephen Milne

or

2) A first gamer (Archer)

Dont know which would have been worse.

Felt sick watching those two marks. knew that I wasnt going to enjoy the last two minutes.

In the end, that was one of the best games I've seen the Tigers play in a long time. Fierce at the contest! Should have won, I believe, but learning how to win the close ones takes time.

Think about it - they were challenged tonight, but had the ticker to go with the Saints all night and still be running hard at the end.

The game plan is all Hardwick, and tonight the Tiges played like he did!
The coach is the best thing that has happened to the club in years.

Think back to the beginning of last season. How far has this side come?

You guys really do have something to look forward to...:thumbsu:

We are our own worst enemy... still make some absolutely dumb decisions.

What l liked...

1) Vickery (!)... is starting to enjoy the contest and is quicker on his feet than l gave him credit for.

2) King and White... whilst l doubt whether they will be part of the success, geez, if they continue to play as hard and passionate as that, then we might have just turned a corner.

3) Perseverance... even against adversity, the last two weeks we've fought and fought and fought.

4) Grigg... worry about his disposal, but **** he's hard and works harder than l have seen in Richmond guernsey.

What l loathe...

1) Our skills and turnovers. Still our biggest threat to success. How many times did we break clear, with runners left and right, and we cant dispose a simple handball. Drop ridiculously easy marks. Kicking over the head of a target 15 metres away.

2) ANGUS GRAHAM - piss weak, lazy, inept and an embarrassment

3) Robin Nahas... has no football brain, a liability.

4) Foley... great to see him back, but he is so far off the pace. And... for all his good stuff, he still has an AWFUL habit of holding onto the pill too long and all the options have been exhausted and there's no where left to go but **** it up.

5) Mitch Morton - when will he realise he is part of team. I dont like him, never have, never will.
