So. Now what do we do with crouch... offer him 500k a year for 2 years and say “we just cant take a risk” and hope he goes?.. or do we want him to stay?..

Our midfield already has sloane, keays, laird.. all players that are really similar.. crouch is more of the same.. we need to move at a minimum one of these guys on to make room for the mid we get with our first this year..

Crouch was the obvious easy choice given his contract status.. now we’re ****ed because we’ll find **** all clubs keen to take him and if one or two are they arent gonna be paying him much.. we’d be lucky to get band 3.

Once again we tried to wing it and we’ve ****ed ourselves.. he shouldve been sent in for surgery at the start of the year. Anyone that watched his slow “waddle” excuse for a run in the trial match could clearly see he was ****ed.

You watch... these morons will probably sign him up at $700k for 5 years and sell it as a boon signing for the club and claim they got his signature for a lot less than they wouldve expected to pay..

good news is band 2 and 3 aren't much different. But I doubt it kills his next contract too much, clubs do their due diligence.

Lol 500 for a AA mid
He gonna get 700 offers....
i was only saying offer him 500k in the hope he leaves..

i doubt he’s gonna get $700k offers if he doesn't play a game at all this year..

for us to only get band 3 for his brother brad means he was only offered, and took, somewhere between 500 - 600k a year at the very most..

anything between 600-750 is band 2.. and higher than 750 is band 1.

brad’s got more class than matt.. Matts an in and under accumulator. gets a lot of the ball but often does **** all with it. we’ve got plenty of those types already.

if anything we should have kept brad and told matt to explore other options last year.

cant have all of matt, keays, sloane and laird as our mainstays at the CB’s.

We don't have any in and under guys who avg 30 touches....
If its so easy to get 30 touches why doesn't every mid do it?
Matt is elite in and under winner, not sure why so many don't think he is...

Every team needs one

we’ve got four... like you say.. we need one.

sloane is great at getting in and under and getting the hard ball out.
laird is great at it
keays is great at it

they are all great at it and, when in form, can all get 25-35 touches a game. and laird does it every weekend.

what they havent got is class when it comes to delivering it by foot.. sloane has in the past, but sloane isnt the future and probably wont be on the list after his current contract expires.

they are all workhorses. we have too many of them.

we need to pick 1 or 2 of them and build the midfield around them but tee them up with a couple of classy mids not more of the same.

Put it this way I'd be way more sad to see Matt go than Brad.
I thought that Matt improved a lot last year when he started to look forward rather than always running backwards. He has a lot to offer for the crows. I hope that his surgery heals quickly and that he is playing for us later this year.

I would just keep him ready to hit preseason hard later this year.

Surgery + rehab + match conditioning.

Season will be basically over.

If you want to know how badly we need Mrouch, just look at how battered and broken Cripps has been for the Blues.

Mrouch is insurance for any gem midfielders we may get in this years draft.
so... we get a couple of gem midfielders at years end like you say..

and if we keep laird, crouch, sloane and keays all on the list.. gee, i just cant wait to see us lining up at centre bounces with laird, keays and mcrouch/sloane whilst our gem midfielders are playing off centre half forward.. or left “developing“ in the SANFL..

we seriously cannot have all four of those lads once again sharing the CB’s amongst themselves as has happened in recent times.. its an absolute dogshit midfield mix..

We've clearly messed this up; who makes these decisions?

He was injured in PRE-SEASON, and we're only now finally addressing it; what the hell?

Normally agree with you BC, but think you're miles off here.

Sloane won't be in the middle next year (well, shouldn't be).

Keays a battler.

Laird quality.

That's it.

Matt is a gun, we can't afford to lose him - we can afford to sell him at premium, but not lose him.

I seriously feel as though I’ve gone into another dimension when I read that people think we should be getting rid of Matt Crouch and that we should keep Ben Keays, Keays looks good now because of his work rate his disposal is very average especially when on the run, we just suck at the moment and are at the beginning of a rebuild in a couple of years time he should be struggling to get a game if we draft well.

sloane will be first choice mid until his boots have been hung up or he plays out a gold watch extension like Thommo. We play 3 mids that spend 95% of their 85% TOG on ball. There's 3 units in total that are available, 3 primaries take up 2.4 of those 3. This is why there's so little time for Schoey and Berry at the stoppages, then there's Pedlar plus hopefully the best mid in this year's draft. Plus ROC and Hately. One of Matt, Rory, Ben or Laird need to be gone because if they're all available, they'll all be played and take up every available midfield minute. Nothing is more certain from this coaching group.

Have you seen the number of midfielders some teams are running through the centre of the ground? Its not just the starting ones, you need several players capable of doing the job.

Brad?

Clubs don't rate Brad. He doesn't go both ways, he is wasteful by foot and he picks up empty disposal numbers.

Matt has always been rated higher than Brad.

Matt hasn’t devalued himself by being caught on CCTV buying drugs...

It's ok tho, Brad "put his hand up". What a guy.

After being caught red handed, as near as he could be to the city's biggest police station, in the company of a repeat offender. So admirable he put his hand up to admit he was in the wrong.
