I found this to be a really interesting article on the science of Swing Bowling.
Inside the science of what makes a cricket ball swing
Growing up in the late 70's and 80's I was always excited when cricket season started, and I'd get to watch the great fast bowlers like Lillee, Thompson, Marshall, Holding, Garner and others. I tried to emulate them, but I could never bowl fast enough, but then in the early 80's a bowler by the name of Terry Alderman came along and even though he wasn't bowling as fast, he was getting the ball to do some amazing things, and the batters were dropping like flies. I'd never seen anyone (or at least remember seeing anyone) bowl like that and asked my junior coach how he did it, he showed me how and I started to practise the art of Swing Bowling.
