I'm in Taiwan, the military flight incursions of the ROC's ADIZ started after Taiwan got international recognition and praise for its covid management. I think the Chinese aircraft are cutting the corner of the zone instead of going around. They COULD be preparing attacks, but it would come at a huge cost. Probably if an ultra-nationalistic faction took over the Politburo. The bigger international danger is the South China Sea. They are slower building their control over large areas there and the surrounding countries are too weak to stop them. Metaphorically they are more like anacondas than cobras; constant pressure.
I heard Aus backed out of a belt and road deal with China. Smart move. Once they're in, it would hard to get them out.
The Chinese are being ruthlessly medieval with their western Turkic and Tibetan populations. Anything could happen there if they get some foreign help ala Islamic State or Al Qaida, but those guys have been pussies so far. If something does kick off, or anywhere else in China where there's lots of tension, there will be international effects.

3 years in Cape Town before 10 years working and living in Switzerland and now transferred to Thailand...plenty of visits back home in between..though Covid put a stop to that...for now.
They'd probably first attack cyberly then with the missiles, so not much to be done if they did. Maybe I should up my daily beer dosage.
