Looking at Coleman medal stats since 1955 the longest period without a 100 bag is the current one of 15 years. Prior to that it was 13 years from 55 - 67. If 80 goals was the new standard we would have been running on the field and celebrating Fevola in 2009, Kennedy in 2016 and Curnow in 2023. I know there is a mystical quality about the century, but is it ever achievable again in the modern game?

100 will never happen again IMO.

Game is way different now in how it is played compared to how it use to be.
The game will change again, for the better or worse.
And then it will change again, and change again and change again.

Eventually one of these iterations will produce the environment that makes kicking 100 possible again.
Will it happen in the next 20 years? Probably not, but it will probably happen at some point in the future.
