To be fair McGuire only over stayed his welcome by a decade or so.
In that time he made racist remarks, insisted Nafan No Flags take over from someone who could coach, threatened a woman journalist, was laughed at for Stuffing Charnel Nein and himself getting boned etc. He also squealed like a stuck pig at many real or imagined slights on the Pies like COLA or the Northern Academies. His loathing of Sydney goes back to Williams and Davis saying gagf ‘we are off to agood club in Sydney’.
He also made a Presidents call to bring back Beams at a bizarre cost and made similar calls over the Pies List. That was pretty funny.
The result - a severe problem with salary capitis. The Footy Show had folded and he lacked the means to pay players under the Table.
As we all know he had to have a fire sale of good players which he and Mr No Flags handled incredibly poorly. So ultimately Sleevo, Treloar and eventually Grundy left as well as a couple of others.
Lo and behold looks like Grundy may be off to Sydney. I expect the Swans are very grateful for McGuire’s contribution to the return of COLA through that $250k pa payment to Grundy.
