Oppo Camp Jack Ginnivan (Traded to Hawks 2023)

Understood TRS this the whole crux of the matter - Gini doesn't duck - nor does he drop when tackled - he drops well before being tackled.

NOTHING in the rule book covers it.

I think we need to be realistic about the whole issue... Brad Scott is in charge of the umpiring department, a move akin to having Joffa Corfe in charge of the Auskickers

Yes he plays for frees.

And should be called for holding the ball when caught, but you can't ignore legit frees.

He's being umpired differently to every other player and it's a disgrace.

And the dirty hits off ball and at the bottom of packs is infuriating.

The hate from the crowd and social media is over the top.

Hope he stays in a good head space.
Our players need to take out anyone from oppo teams who target Ginnivan.
Get the ball and tuck it under an arm a t stoppages and not give it to the umpires while making the point.
The whole side point to the big screen, when the replay is shown every time.
Make the whole issue a major issue right in front of the umpires and then take it to the AFL and the Umpires officially.

The umps are a scourge on the game.

I might be on my own here but I think he’s dropping his body and looking at the umpires for a free kick more than he was a couple of weeks ago. Almost like he’s doubled down on his tactics when he stopped getting frees.

Go back to hunting the ball and staying low like he was should be his priority. He’s a good forward who can kick goals without the free kicks and he needs to remember that.

When Selwood received a free for it last night the commentary was around him being low and strong. Rules for one and not another.
Just watched Kosi Pickett do it and not a word from the commentary. weak as piss

Because Selwood plays for Geelong.

Different rules for different players AND teams.

This is becoming a joke Ginnivan rule confusion FFS!!
Pickett 55 games, Ryan 81, Walters 195, Pendles 350 and Selwood (not mentioned) nearly 350.
He’s only played 20 games, but apparently it’s if you can’t beat them (him) join them.

Not sure how much longer the AFL can just let this simmer away. The kinds of things going on are not on, especially with all the post-whistle attention Ginnivan gets either way.

Hate the implication that its something new to the game that Ginnivan has introduced and those players actively watched Ginnivan and decided to do it

The AFL are fortunate someone with my temperament isn't Collingwood president.

Enough is enough - I'd be going public - and not through the ratbag media.

I'd use our media department and take the tapes directly to the AFL board room and figuratively ram them down their throats.

Corruption of this level should not be tolerated.

Nowhere else in the world would it be.

The actual truth of it is that it has been going on for the last 10-15 years at least, but that they beat the whole Ginnivan thing up so much (because he's Collingwood and has perfected it and Cornes put a target on him) that the focus is now on the "lowering the body" thing that they realise how much of it actually goes on league wide.

It's generally the smaller/shorter players that do it and it's a weapon that I don't believe should be taken from them. It's always been harder to tackle smaller players and it demands good technique. If the player is good enough to stay low (not duck!) and gets the free then good on them.

Btw, I'm not talking about the sort of flinging yourself backwards rubbish that Liam Ryan was doing yesterday. How come he is not getting headlines?

This season has to be the worst umpiring i have seen, total confusion across the whole game, the fact that we have not come out and ask for a please explain the obvious non frees paid to Ginni and then the holding the ball paid against him is a joke. No excuse can be made for the biased umpiring going on atm ,it is purely cheating and they are getting away with it.

It's not cheating or some conspiracy by the umpires or the AFL.

It's the umpires being influenced by the media and probably taking some of their coaching too literally.

They are are presuming he's faking it every time because that's literally what the media are portraying.

Just sick of jack being treated unfairly and nothing been done about it. It’s frustrating to watch as a supporter and it’s clear as day he is being umpired differently. It’s not right and I hope CFC take this right up to the AFL. So over it.

It’s not only the dispute about head high frees or not. He gets man handled a lot off the ball, around the ground in full view of Umps. Fairly sure received free last quarter this week and was bumped heavy after kicking and no down field free.
