I could see Close moving up to a wing or even HBFLooking forward to seeing how we intend to use him.

Yeah I know he's predominantly played forward thus far, but I'd like to see him HBF or wing.Watching his highlights, Martin can hit those 45 degree inboard kicks and has an off foot, I'm thinking that he could be a HBF

Don't mind it at all.
Only issue is we have too many solid defenders as is. Maybe Mullin can become a permanent midfielder?
Humphries could certainly be trialed through the middle with another preseason under his belt.
Can't see Guthrie being shifted up the field.
Can't see him getting a game on anything other than past reputation,I think playing him will take us backwards to the old slow moving the ball forward Geelong.Don't mind it at all.

You are blaming guthrie for chris scotts previous coaching strategy? Can't see him getting a game on anything other than past reputation,I think playing him will take us backwards to the old slow moving the ball forward Geelong.

Guthries strength was his line breaking. It works much better woth pit mew game plan.

Line breaking has never been Guthrie's strength he's an accumulator who's always looking to distribute to the line breakers hence his low mts gained per disposal he has been worked out and more and more those disposals are under extreme opposition pressure and result in a hacked kick in hope eventually by a player with less time and fewer options than Guthrie had in the first instance. You are blaming guthrie for chris scotts previous coaching strategy?

Free hit Turbo and needed to be at one stage in his career he smoked of having huge upside and x factor but that's looking to have been extinguished he's at his best when free wheeling in the forward half hope he can re find his mojo at the CatteryMight HBF be a chance to be less injury prone?
A bit like Miers who is reliable at set shots …. Martin is a very good kick…. and could be a weapon at those mid field kicks

Guthrie had one of the best shimmys in the game. Not just at geelong but in the game. Was also a run and carry player (when allowed to play that way).
That is likely true.I agree with you, especially the "had" part.
Bro looks absolutely cooked.

What a glorious day that was.Yes and I want it to be “touched” like the Riccardi one to piss them off even more.
Are you in the footage at all? What a glorious day that was.
Myself and a few mates went nuts after the siren and some Carlscum wanted to box on and singled me out.
He was ranting with a clenched fist, "my fist will effing show you how much it was touched by you dog see-you-next-week"
Thankfully his mate had more sense than he did and ushered him away before it escalated.
I was in the medallion club that night. I rarely drink beer at the footy. But I said to my mate at 1/2 time "Time to go inside and drink some beer" Sidled up with some Carlton fans, told them we were cooked and we had a really good chat and we never left the table. What a glorious day that was.

For some people, football is their life. Certainly as an 18-year-old, I loved going to the footy and riling up opposition supporters.I was in the medallion club that night. I rarely drink beer at the footy. But I said to my mate at 1/2 time "Time to go inside and drink some beer" Sidled up with some Carlton fans, told them we were cooked and we had a really good chat and we never left the table.
As it went on you could she they had started crapping themselves. I wasn't cheering to see that. But it's amazing how you can see people start to despair over a simple game such as footy.
So you were 'treated' to the Lappin debacle instead? Lucky you! I bet old mate Carlton supporter was getting his jollies in that moment before turning on you 20 seconds later!!!No. I've watched that last two minutes many times over the past 20 years. We were sitting at the Carlton scoring end. So, really, it's not like anyone at that end had a clue at the time if it was touched. Thank all the deities in existence that there was no score review, as I think it may have been touched!
That's the irony of it perhaps being touched because it was an absolute joke of a 50 metre penalty that put Carlton in front. So you were 'treated' to the Lappin debacle instead? Lucky you! Carlton fought back hard, but Lappin should have had the kick out there on the flank. No guarantees.
Would Lappin be done for staging these days? I mean, the 55 rolls and holding of his head like he’d just been nearly decapitated was a little over the top…That's the irony of it perhaps being touched because it was an absolute joke of a 50 metre penalty that put Carlton in front.
