Ahhh Jack Martin!
My favourite pick up thus far... albeit the draft is yet to come.
Plays taller than people think.
Sticky hands.
Plays smaller than people think.
Deceptive speed which i will call more elusive than quick.
Is stronger and quicker than people think.
Has a skillset that can't be taught.
Thinking he'll be part of a forward line that has OH and he as the alternate marking foils for Neale and Jezza.
One of those players that are hard to defend.
Big fellas are too slow small fellas are too short.
Fingers crossed our medicos can keep him on the park.
If so he will be a GEM of a pick up.

If we get him fit he's exactly the kind of player to take us over the preliminary final hump. We needed some indivdual brilliance in the final 10 minutes against Brisbane. Something Martin has plenty of.

He also is a willing tackler... So that tells me he is a team player and isn't just out here trying to get cheapies.

Hope we have physios with some ideas in mind, his body is constantly an issue and the worst thing would be for Martin to have a great season but break down in September.
We could always just go the other way. Have him do SFA all year and have a game breaking final.

The likely reality is he's going to be injured at some point. He just doesn't play full seasons, and that's unlikely to just suddenly change at 30.

Some of those might be completely out of his control (like a contact injury)c but if it's mainly a workload thing that his body can only handle 3 months of consecutive football, I'd prefer us to manage him for when it matters.

We'll survive during the H&A season with our depth at his position regardless, but he could be important in the second half of the year.

That’s a very lazy comparison.

How is it similar to Yarran? Because they changed positions? Half the players in the league have changed positions since they were a junior.

Surely there is a more appropriate comparison, ie. an actual midfielder who moved forward.
Yarran was a competent AFL forward before being shifted back
Was very good off half back for a while too
