Done deal mmkay. Let’s all forget the PSD and go home lol. I don’t know whether to admire or pity your ability to face down reality.

Interesting response given you have been similarly definitive about the Suns redrafting him.

You have said your piece, not sure there is any need to continue going round in circles.

Elmer Judd keeps stalking me, even into other threads (clearly subconsciously worried). Just giving a bit back.

Of course it doesn’t. Does it need to be spelt out all the factors that need to be taken into account every time someone posts? Seems like Carlton are justifying underpaying on the account of a small drop in form late in 2019 (quite possibly related to an injury he sustained late in the year and the fact he’d already mentally checked out), conveniently ignoring you’re getting a player coming into the prime of his career with his best footy in front of him.
In previous posts you‘ve described him as lazy. You went so far as to suggest his future CFC team mates will have to increase their own work rates to supplement JM’s substandard work rate. Yet in your latest post, you isolated his substandard performance to “a small drop in 2019;” which you say was “quite possibly related to injury” or due to having“checked out.” Can you help rationalise your seemingly conflicting positions?

Nothing conflicting or contradictory, merely complementary. Keep working on your reading comprehension.

I compared their draft position and lack off output versus expectations. Only an idiot would read that as a comparison of players, now return to your village they need you

Comparing draft positions for two players that are vastly different is a joke in itself.

Why would Carlton waste the cap space? Could see them lose some big names in a few seasons.

The cap space we have that would otherwise go to waste?

We have banked salary over the past few years and have a little extra as a result.

We’ve put ourselves in that position intentionally. Why wouldn’t we use it now that we can?

Thought you may have used it on a more impactfull player I guess.

Why, it’s something they have in common as well as the perceived lack of output. How is that a joke?
You just used the word perceived...says enough for me.
Name me a 21 year old key position defender who’s provided better output?
Your example provides zero tenths of SFA.

No cap space goes to waste , There are always players contracts to extend or front end

Well we did have it earmarked for Coniligio.
This scenario is not much different to North settling on Polec on big coin they had planned for Gaff.

I am ready to admit i was wrong and apologize to you personally if the Suns or Dees take Martin in the PSD.

I also might have been a bit OTT in some of my responses to you, and for that i do apologize, for that.

I get your point about the Suns making a stand on players being poached, but taking my Carlton hat off, I think it will create an unhealthy environment next year in the playing group.

So, generally a lazy player requiring others to supplement his lack of work rate, even poorer in 2019 due to injury and check out, yet still worth a first; is that your point?

If you bank cap space for two years, you can go over in the third.

Pretty sure that is the situation we find ourselves in, and I am equally as sure we cannot carry that forward into 2021.

Hence if we don’t use it, we lose it.

From what i have seen, the kid that is ranked as the best 15/16 year old is rarely taken at number 1 in the draft as there is so much development that goes on in the next few years of football. Sure those kids are still in the academy programme and get drafted, but not all go on to be the best of their draft. This is the issue for Martin and the others kids taken in the 17 year old mini-drafts - they are drafted more on reputation that output. I don't see Martin, Hogan, Crouch or O'Meara (who was probably the most likely) as kids that would have been a certainty to go at number 1 in the draft had they played another year.

GCS appear to be being pig headed in what they wanted for Martin because of his reputation as a 15/16 year old. If they want to take a stance and get nothing for him, (or worse) redraft him when he doesn't want to be there, then that is their choice. But this hard line stance is all bluster and wind when they let Ah Chee (a similar talent to Martin), go to the cross town rival for less than they were offered for Martin. It's not a line in the sand .... it's hypocrisy!

You dont need to continue to bank cap space as you could always restructure contracts to pay players more in that year than the following years
every club has players who have contracts to extend every year just front end their contracts.

Banking cap space was not was i was referring to

Restructuring player agreements isn't solely in club control; effected player/s need to agree. Having TPP space that can be used at club’s sole discretion can be an advantage; as is apparent now.
