In what way? Certainly wont be taggijng
Not necessarily tagging but just a more defensive/team-oriented midfielder, to tackle hard and do the 1%ers that we've lacked since the days when Selwood was tagging.

Stenglein wasn't a hard tagger, he just played a role. He was also handy drifting forward and was a strong overhead marker, like Redden.

reddens a coal face player like priddis and has the ability to to average 30-28 disposals a game like priddis but also gets a lot of tackles cause he is in the coal face. same exact reason why priddis gets a truck load of tackles. Him and stenglien arent really similiar players. His best so far has been 25-24 disposals season but has the potential to be a high accumulate of the footy like pridda. Last two years he has averaged 24 disposals 6.5 tackles 5 clearances and 10.5 contested possesion, those numbers are pretty good but he said he felt his footy in the last two years have been stagnant. Brissy got him to lose weight in the last few years and i think they wanted him to be a more balanced mid. However, simmo wants him to bulk (probably an indication that e will be a true inside mid next year) and I guess next season he could starts averaging 28-26 disposals, 6 clearances and have similair tackle count and form a formidable partnership with priddis and shuey on the inside.

True - i was just thinking while Priddis is around, whether or not we can have two 'coal face' players, given how much work Priddis does.

redden has somewhat of an outside game. He will play a similair role to scooter when scooter was playing his best footy.

Why are you setting your range from high to low? I read that as "to average 30 to 28".. It shouldn't annoy me, but it does.

I don't think Redden plays anything like Priddis personally. He isn't close to as good as Priddis in and under and he seems to like to run and carry a lot more. Because of his height he can go 3rd man up (racks up hit outs) and is also a strong mark but mostly uncontested. The only thing similar between them imo is they are both tackling machines. If anything I'd say Redden is more like a mix of Shuey and Yeo but with the same tackling intensity of Priddis.

I think he is a great addition to our midfield as Priddis, Shuey and Redden should be a great combination - as I feel they have complimentary skills sets. I don't think Redden is a Priddis replacement at all. If Priddis were injured I'd bring Hutchings in to the team as the extractor. Redden could play as an outside mid and possibly at half forward as well.

Redden is a gun, his stats last season were very good (arguably better than Shuey's - stats only, not impact in games) and yet you can tell he has even greater potential. Am excited to see how he fits in and whether he prospers playing in a much better team. Having two ~190cm midfielders (Redden+Yeo) as marking targets next year bodes well for us transitioning from back to forward effectively through the middle I think. I just hope both of them really sharpen their inside 50 kicking because if our forwards are getting silver service from the centre corridor and the wings we will be almost unstoppable.

I did like his run-down of Selwood
Yeah It reminded me of the great deal we have made , i like redden although I cant remember anything he has ever done , I can only remember crap things Scott Selwood ever did so he is in front by a mile . He is 190 cm so even in defence he just has to stick his arms up anywhere inside 50 and automatically is better defensively . If he can get the ball down onto his foot he is automatically a better player in the forward line because Selwood was worse shot on goal west coast have EVER had . If he can hand ball he is automatically a better player than Selwood cos Selwood would would (wood would would ) even selwoods name has me stuttering . get tackled .

Selwood was 186 cm, but seemed to play smaller than that. Always seemed to be hunched (bit like Sheed).
