GWS - future 2nd and Jackson

for

ADL - future 1st
no, what we will do is offer up a late 2nd or 3rd rounder as a take it or leave it offer and keep our 2021 1st that we are a good shot to get Horne next year with..will pair up nicely with Hately and Shoenberg.

What you suggest is akin to me saying port should offer up their 2020 2nd rounders and 2021 1st for Fantasia and Essendon's 2021 2nd..a great deal as you guys should be up near the top of the ladder and Essendon likely middling to lower table and Fantasia will be the missing link (see we can be silly too)

I’ve been pretty consistent in how I’ve rated Jackson.
He was a first round pick in a very strong draft. In his time at GWS he has demonstrated a work ethic to make sure he is well placed to get the best out of his first round talent.
Adelaide has made Jackson feel wanted and rated. He has had limited opportunity in a talent laden established GWS midfield.
The GWS matching for Cameron has them well placed for above FA compensation pick - maybe 2 first or a first and early second. GWS have a first round for Williams and a mid second round for Corr. I think they are pretty good for picks this year.
Jackson is worth it. I think he’ll be a 200+ game midfield stalwart - much like Scott Thompson. I think his trade was pick 12?

Fantasia was a pick 55 and has had injury issues. He is probably 30 - 50 depending on the draft. He is at the last chance saloon.

My money is on the atkins compo pick which is end of 2nd round. Picks 22 or 23 and 33 i hope will be used to upgrade to pick 14 and maybe then bundle with pick 9 to get into the the top 5. Heres to hoping
That would be your hope but im thinking the giants will most certainly wanting more that a pick around #40 in this draft specially
#23 will most likely be around or close to #30

No doubt but a club with strong negotiating skills that has pick 1 in the psd should hold the whip hand in any negotiation. But after the brad crouch fiasco i would not trust our club to negotiate successfully for a bag of lollies

Pick #23 would be most likely imo

which is a fair deal for both teams
I would think fair value is actually a higher pick, rated player taken at 14 in a "super draft" . Problem for GWS is he is out of contract and ludicrously he can dictate terms. Plus Adelaide has pick 1 in the PSD and I'm thinking will want to send a strong message after the Crouch PR debacle, based on all this I think while 23 is reasonable we will push hard on this, but who knows

Still have to pay fair value though.

Pick #14 in a strong draft and has shown he is a quality player and Crows chased him and will probably be paying $500k+
Whilst he is uncontracted he is not a free agent.

Dont think the crows will be making PSD threats as half your list will be from interstate and will all be uncontracted at 1 point or another
#23 in a compromised draft where it will become #30 is more that fair.

You would be going crazy if he was the same player moving away from the crows for that pick

While I am sure Adelaide will offer a fair pick, most likely a late second, GWS really can't do a dodo with it as we have first pick in the PSD.
Cant wait until himmelberg is out of contract and we offer him a fair late 2nd pick

I think alot is going to depend on what Melbourne want for Preuss and how many players they are looking to take in the draft
But a fair trade is a mid-late 20's pick and #23 after NGA picks will be late 20's

I just see it that you dont let go of 1st round kids after 2 years development 13 games and is ready to go or a pick in the 40's
always need to remember that Crows chased him and GWS didnt toss him out or need to let him go. they had an offer for him to stay a giant

Currently Hately has more value than Fogarty from the Crows. What would you expect for him if he wanted to move to another club who has a good offer for him

Hately asking to go there is the best thing to happen to the crows in a long time imo.

He should play 250 + games for their club.

even at pick 23 is a bargain, anything less and you’ve robbed gws.

I would happily pay our earliest 2nd rounder for him, hell I would swap two 2nds for him and a 3rd.

the crows might use the psd as some unsaid leverage but they would be stupid to actually threaten It or use it. They need good players and some good PR.

I Fogarty were to ask for a trade next year what would be the Crows supporters be expecting as fair compensation for Fogarty

Currently i would take Hately over fogarty without thinking twice
Fogarty's value will very much depend on his 2021 season. Another like this year and he won't have much value.

I watched him play in Canberra last year in his first year. Definately looks a talent. If the Crows pinch him in the PSD, not bad at all.
I too was at the Giants, Freo game. He was our second ever Canberra born player to play at Manuka (after Jack Steele) and was very good in his debut. Adelaide have a really nice player on his way.

Darcey Fogarty was drafted in 2017 and Jackson Hately 2018
Fogarty has already been in the afl system 1 year longer than Hately and is 1 year older

So you believe he has more value than Hately unless he has 'another year where his value will go low ?

I would really like to know what pick would Fogarty be worth now if he was to want to leave , I personally have Hately higher in value considerably with what both players have produced so far in their career's

I wasn't comparing the two of them, I only responded to your first line asking what his value would be if he requested to leave next season.

Neither have full value compared to where they were drafted in their respective draft years but I also believe that's because draft picks are overrated.

Fogarty wasn't able to deliver on the promise that he showed at the end of 2019. He kicked 9.1 in 3 games in 2019 compared to 8.1 from 10 games this year. Certainly not easy going being a forward in Adelaide's side but he really struggled to stay in the game this year and has a long way to go if he wants to make it at AFL level. He's at that awkward height where he might make it as a KP forward or more as a 3rd tall. Pretty much has to improve his fitness I think so he can be a factor in 2021. Fantastic kick and shows some nice aggression but needs more than just those two things to make it.

Hately has suffered by being drafted by GWS. 7 games in 2019 and 6 this year where he was the late in twice. His issue is he's a midfielder who hasn't really got the opportunity to play in the midfield (at least not full time) in the games he's played in so it's hard to really know what he can offer at this point.

You can spin it either way, Hately as someone with one less year in the system being played out of position due to a side that's flooded with midfield talent and maybe showed a little of what he has to offer in his pre season games this year. Fogarty as a KP forward who always takes longer to develop but someone who has already got a bag of 5 goals next to his game (against WCE) as a 19 year old but suffering in a poor team for 2020.

I actually agree, as I said it's ludicrous that any player two years in and nowhere near their playing peak can demand to be traded to a certain club with their current club retaining very little control and leverage. Has happened to us in the past shout out to jack Gunston and will no doubt happen again. It shouldn't be allowed and undermines the equalisation efforts of the comp. Having said all that, it is what it is, there is zero chance we give fair value to compensate GWS for a player they have invested pick 14 and 2 years of development into.

I'd be more than happy to part with 23 when you consider his talent. GWS want a top 10 for Caldwell who should be valued the same as Hately so we're getting a bargain here. Save pick 1 for the PSD in case someone nominates after not getting traded.

I've felt as though our 2nd rounder from the Dogs, which is now at 33, has always been the most likely trade. Definitely unders but with pick 1 in the PSD and the Crows desperate for some good PR I don't think more will be given for him. That being said, wouldn't be surprised if we somehow screwed this up on current trends.
