Jake Carlisle's Video - Duty to Reveal?

Sadly like a lot of unions it looks like there are people involved in the AFLPA just as dodgy willing to ironically and hypocritically screw over organisations for their own gain.

Union officials are just like politicians - working under the guise of doing what's best for their members/constituents, when in reality they are in for nothing but personal gain. It's little wonder there's so much crossover between the two.

St Kilda have been stitched up here, BUT I'm genuinely in two minds re: the video.

Carlisles manager has a duty to act in his clients best interests.

That video goes public before the trade and it doesn't get done - is that in Jake's best interests?

Would've been interesting to see what would've happened if ACA had've contacted StKilda just before the trade was done.

I dare say the trade would not have happened.

Does he then go to the Hawks? Or re-sign at Essendon?

Re the issue, perhaps his manager could have said something, but I think it'll turn out OK for Saints. He's still the same player and worth what they traded for him.

Where this is a vexed issue for Saints now is Carlisle's mindset. He is renown for struggling when unhappy, hence, smashing him too hard on this will damage his output. Going to soft will bring pressure on the club from external and internal Mrs Lovejoy types.

My advice would be to take a welfare approach with Jake and get his mind back on playing.

I think the pressure of taking a massive contract and costing 1st plus 2nd round picks to get him and a late 1st round brings massive pressure. Being the only mature KPD that isn't old will also be tough, especially as a shallow midfield means there will be periods of the game where he's under fire. I fear Saints will add to this pressure wanting to appear tough. Let's hope they make the right choice here.

Carlisles manager just followed the AFLPAs advice

The issue here is the AFLPA who effectively prioritised the welfare of one player who did the wrong thing over the welfare of the other 43 players at the saints including their own rep who was delisted to make room for carlisle

I have stated, at length, that I thought St Kildas behaviour was utterly deplorable at the trade table.

BUT can't argue with your logic.

What exactly did they do that was deplorable?

Anyways its a separate issue. Medical details should be disclosed to the clubs prior to the trade

If clubs couldn't trade players they know have snorted charlie at some point, there would be a lot less trades going on.

It seems to me that the Saints are upset, not because of the Carlisle's habits, but because he is even more of a moron than they first thought. Not that being sharp is a requirement of a league footballer, but you have to at least avoid being a danger to yourself.
