What about Jake Edwards delisted by Carlton! son of Butch and grandson of 1954 PREIMERSHIP PLAYER Arthur, any one seen him play , he played 5 games in 2008 and from memory looked ok. -- a late draft pick ??????????.

We lost out on "Butch" Edwards..... (see other thread), we won with ol' Arthur...maybe young Jake can give the family name a plus factor result...:>)

Don't forget he's also great grandson of "Dolly" Aked former player and bullbogs great, so his family ties with the dogs go back till when we joined the league.
Given that time I'm also guessing that the football ability in the family has been well used up and last seen with Butch (who we should've picked up father son rather waiting till he was well past it).

Butch turned us down as a father-son.
If there was a draft back in those days Butch would have been a no. 1 pick. Very highly rated at the time.
Graeme Richmond threw the farm at him and we didn't have a chance.
We missed Ronnie Wearmouth the same way.
I don't think we really have room to be taking him BUT I actually liked what I saw of Edwards a few times. Wouldn't get a run for us but would be a handy back up...not really something you should be drafting for but worth a look.

Wearmouth was never going to sign with Footscray. Wearmouth senior had such a poor opinion of the way the club was run in his time, with justification, that he swore that Ronnie would play for any club but.
The club is well run now, it wasn't always the case. Some administrations were downright disgraceful.

Roughy's father played a few games for the Dogs reserves side didn't he and Steve Hargrave played a couple of senior games.
From the TAC, Billy Smedts and Sam Reid have some connections.

Ill be the first to admit i dont know much about the draft prospects, but I would have thought we could do alot worse with pick 79 than get Edwards from what Ive seen of him. He is still only 21.
That Hawkins kid at Geelong should be playing for the Doggies under the father son rule. Forgodsake Dancing Dougy was a club legend!
