Now while being a massive Harbs fan, will this guy be a permanent player in our 22 in say 2 to 3 years.

I know its early but his body size worries me, sure hes quick but you also require some body strength to play at the highest level which Harbs does not have much of.

But yer massive fan of his as i stated just wanted your thoughts as to where you think he fits in?

Cheers :thumbsu:

I have no problems with his size, we lack a true rover type around the club in fact at 178 cm he is probably close to being the shortest guy on our list. His leap tends to make up for it anyway.
11 games in his first season was a great return for the 19 yo. Probably the biggest thing he needs to develop currently is his stamina so he can get more time on the ground.
Great season first up and I have no doubt barring injury he will be around for probably another 13-14 to come.

11 games, 19.y.o - does that qualify to be nominated for rising star next year. I reckon Everitt is a shoe in to get a nomination. any1 else from dogs. how many games would addison have played?

I think 10 is the limit. I was at Everitt's first game against Port and he missed the last match through injury so he is on 8 and OK for next years Rising Star

Harbrow may not have the size, but size can be easily mis-interpreted for strength. He is a ferocious tackler and i see his defensive pressure as possibly his best asset, and as he continues to grow as a player and gain confidence in himself, im sure this will imrpove furthermore. That said, he is obviously at a disadvantage in being small height-wise, but i would rather take someone small and hard at the footy in place of someone tall but half-heated in their efforts to get the pill.

Incase you didnt guess, im a big Harbrow fan too!

And don't forget no matter how big and bulky you are, you still have to catch them to tackle them.
I'm not worried about his height or his frame he will bulk up a bit with age. In my opinion the main thing he needs to do is improve his stamina and work on bulking up a bit as well.
I don't mind what I have seen of him during the minutes he has been on the ground, I mainly want to see him on the ground for more minutes or better still the whole game.

Will be a quality player for the doggies IMO. He has some work to do in that he tends to fade in and fade out as well as rushing his disposlas at times, but for a first year guy off the rookie list you would be satisfied with his year. One things that stands out is his vision...you can't teach it. His vision is outstanding and compared to a guy like Power who has been around a whole lot longer Harbrow generally chooses the right option (thouhg his execution is not always spot on).

He'll fill out enough to be able to compete. To be honest I've been pretty impressed by his efforts in one-on-ones thus far and he should become quite nuggety after a few pre-seasons. I'd be more worried about Malcolm Lynch's ability to bulk up to be honest. I just hope that Harbrow kicks more goals next season. His skills are great and I love his assist work but a few more goals are needed from someone who spends that much time in the forward line. I think he'll be a very capable rover/forward in the years to come.

I'm a big fan, ever since i saw him run around baulking our senior players in the preseason.
Although one thing i noticed this year was that in the early stages he would baulk and take on players all the time and i was thinking this is going to become trademark for the young man. But as the year went on, he stopped doing so and began doing the percentage things, do you think this was instructed by Eade?
I say let the boy take them on!!

Malcolm has got what they call the "smarts" as well as a good speed base.
He needs to be in a professional club environment to "bulk up" and to learn some skill's on his non preferred side.
Even if Mal retains the whippet build like Robert Murphy, I would not be that worried, he has other talents like speed and brains like "Murphy" to compensate for it. But I hope he does do something with his hand and foot skills on his non preferred side.

I'd say that like so many of his teammates, his confidence level went down towards the end. Start winning games again and our blokes will begin taking the opposition on.

He needs to get stronger and fitter which will come naturally. At the moment though I think he needs to work on his finishing. Gets in position to score a lot but misses his target a bit too much at the moment. Tends to rush his kicks. Patience grasshopper.

I agree with your "Kung Fu" approach as well.

his kicking lacks depth and accuracy, but he doesnt help himself there by putting himself under pressure.

I wonder if he was played close to goal whether he would make a decent crumbing small forward. I havent got a handle on his crumbing ability.

I think Harbrow is best suited to play a defensive role in the half forward line. He has pace and defensive pressure to burn.

He will be a gun in about 2-3 years :thumbsu:

In that pre-season game against Sydney he turned on a 5c piece at pace, It was amazing I had to watch the replay in slow mo. Fantastic pick up by clayton. I'm looking forward to seeing him cement a spot.

He's got some spark, which is something we need around the forward 50.

IMO there's a fair chance he'll play 15+ games this year. Well, I'd like to him anyway.
