Match winning tall forwardCorrect in what way?
Stoneham's problem though was it was never the right matches.Match winning tall forward
You want to blame him for that really.Stoneham's problem though was it was never the right matches.
It wasn't just him.You want to blame him for that really.
I saw him win many a game by himself. It wasn't just him.
And I'm not blaming
As did II saw him win many a game by himself.
As did GAS had the ability in one quarter to turn a game.As did I
Said at the time he'd be our new Barry Stoneham...i was correct.
I'm not sure Barry has another flag in him.1 more flag and he's in the conversation for our best ever CHF. Big shoes to fill.
I'm not sure Barry has another flag in him.
Expecting a child now
How many games till will can claim F/s?
It was a poorly handled trade by Geelong. Wells nearly walked. It caused a lot of fighting amongst the list management/recruiting team. It has worked out but we could have ended up with a much better deal.
The picks we gave away for Cameron dropped to picks 15,18 & 23 on draft day. We got back 2 second rounders 30 & 31.
Equivalent points
15. 1112.
18. 985
23. 815
30 629
31. 606
Out. 2912
In. 1235
Overall Cost: 1687
This is equivalent to pick 7.
A great trade that is often reported as three first round picks without analysing it further. Cheaper than May, Lever, Dylan Shiel, Adam Treloar and others.
It was interesting reading recently that the trade went through after the deadline. Had to get AFL approval for for trade to be processed as the deadline had passed. Not really unless we tried to walk him through the draft with a huge price on his head and that wouldnt have worked another club would have taken him before us. Theres no other realistic option we had.
Besides we probably would have used the picks on henry and bruhn and we are about to get them anyway.
The 2nd back got us Willis I think, who I'm certain will be banging down the door next year with an uninterrupted pre-season.

Jezza is 10x the player Stoneham ever was, especially after Stoneham broke his leg.Said at the time he'd be our new Barry Stoneham...i was correct.
Do you think the risk we took was worth it?It was a poorly handled trade by Geelong. Wells nearly walked. It caused a lot of fighting amongst the list management/recruiting team. It has worked out but we could have ended up with a much better deal.
Need Jez to play at least another 61 in the hoops for his kids to be father-son eligible.
It got us a flag. Doesn't mean anything I said was incorrect.Do you think the risk we took was worth it?
Prefer the flag in the bush.Western Bulldogs supporters used to say that about Boyd and all it got them next was a humiliating defeat in the 2021 grand final, you know as the saying goes 1 in the hand in worth three in the bush... we could have had three in the bush with though we would have lost the two smaller bushes a year later so its getting a little confusing on how to value it.
I'd say the break even is 2 flags as Cameron should be > than Boyd.
If you were in Wells shoes, what would be the final trade you offered? How would it have been better? Where did Geelong finish now and in 2023 in such a scenario? How much improved were 2024-2028 going to be?It got us a flag. Doesn't mean anything I said was incorrect.
