Disappointed about Alex Ballard because she was a really good full back in our first season in a team where the ball was constantly down that end of the ground.

Jo Miller is a little bit stiff. Only got 2 games and kicked 2 goals in one of them.
Honestly never understood why Ballard was so on the nose. Felt she might've kept developing well, but was completely shunned. I mean I don't rate our skipper much at all personally, and can't really see any difference between her and Ballard in ability. Ah well, it is what it is.

Miller seems stuff as well, but guess with some long term injuries returning and good draft picks to come some players have to make way.

I always felt like Blex was elite as a stopper, but just didn't offer enough on the rebound. When you only have 16 on the field you need to be able to turn defense in to attack quickly from any position.

I'd wager we have our eye on some good defenders in the draft, and keep in mind also that we have Cuthbertson as well as possibly Heads, coming back in to a defense with Borg, Germech and Brooksby who are had brilliant seasons and are only getting better. There are only so many defensive spots available and Foley retiring only opens one spot. Who knows what we're doing with Tahau next year either...

Without knowing our draft strategy in detail I'd agree that I would have liked to see Blex carry on, but I can also understand why the tough call was made.

The return of Tahau and probably to defence definitely might've had something to do with it.

Alex was good in first year and a bit. However as soon as the game became quicker and more athletes started playing she unfortunately was found out lacking in speed. No doubt her footy IQ was there but the AFLW game is moving on very quickly. Many girls who played 5 years ago would not make teams now
