Roos mentioned today that he wanted a running half back to compliment those two. I dare say he imagined that player would be much more polished and quicker than Bannister though.

PSD didnt cost you but his 2 year contract did with very average return.

As previously mentioned...bannister aint worth pick 28...you'd have to seriously question whether he'd be even trade material. You'd think if he were to play for another club next year it would be through the PSD or for a pick in the 60's+...or possibly throwing him in as a sweetner player.

He isnt the worst player Ive ever seen, and I think actually Carlton should persist with him as a tagger. After they get judd and stevens returns...their midfield is strong, yet one way. I dont see much defensive pressure or much ability to stop a side going the other way. Murphy has shown some ability to stop, whilst Gibbs has also displayed a defensive aspect, yet you would think as pick 1's they will develop into very attacking players. Bannister has always been an honest tagger. I remember him doing some good jobs on Buckley.

Get the feeling that both Malceski & Kennelly are going to be given an opportunity to train for a midfield role over summer and get first crack at it come 2008, which is the reason why Roos is looking at options down back.

But we do have a couple of youngsters in Barlow, Laidlaw & Thornton who are the next three senior players in line who can play the running HBF role.

Bannister did some good jobs this year, particularly against the Doggies and Port. He's got reasonable disposal and can kick the odd goal while playing negating roles. I'm pretty sure he will get at least 1 more year with the Blues.
