Been thinking on this and I’ve been nervous about it for a while. The only thing in his favour is that treading that line is part of what makes guys like JDG the players they are.

Anyways this is Tom Stewart/ Dion Prestia 2.0. The supporter base should be approaching it as praying for 3, hoping for 4 and anticipating 5. Not much else to be said really other than to cop it and move on.

It’s 3. No more.

We ask a lot of our inside “bull” mids. They need to be assertive, aggressive and combative, but don’t get it wrong or you’re labelled an idiot…

There’s nothing wrong with calling this specific incident exactly what it was. Stupid.

I can’t recall a time I’ve ever asked for one of our players to bump someone as opposed to playing the ball or laying a good tackle.

This was dumb. Call it a brain fade, call it frustration, call it whatever makes you happy.

It was stupid. It actually gets even more stupid as you add layers of context to it.

Wasnt idiotic really at all. Careless maybe but the public assassination by the flogs in the media today is piss poor
Up to us Pies fans to switch off these flogs.
The only football related thing I watch nowadays is "The Front Bar".
Media act like African Hyenas when Collingwood is involved.

My Magpie pride bristles at it, but as a fan of the game it’s a necessary evil. It’s the old school army approach of punishing one to teach the masses.

How are you arguing it as 3? I personally don’t have one. When I look at McAdam getting 3 with O’Halloran not entering the concussion protocols and Stewart getting 4 last year I can’t see a path to 3 myself unfortunately.

I don’t remember suggesting there was anything wrong with it only that we ask a lot of our midfield bulls…

Young inexperienced player runs himself into trouble. Jordy coming in for a ball and all front on tackle. Hewitt realises his plight at the last second and offloads the ball. Jordy realises at the last second and turns to bump. Unfortunate contact to head of Hewitt. No chance for either player to avoid contact. No report ( as far as I could tell). Downfield free kick awarded. Incident referred to MRO. and tribunal for sanction. Media outrage.
Beau McCreery pushes the bump boundary frequently and is universally admired. Jordy does the same and is pilloried by many.
If the character assassination affects Jordy media will feign concern for his mental health ( see Jack Ginnivan).
Forgive, learn and move on seems the best response.

Did Jordy murder someone yesterday and commit the most heinous act ever on a football field? You’d think so by the way the AFL media are carrying on this morning and no guess who’s leading the charge. The fwit Cornes, can’t hide his hatred of us.
It really was a stupid thing to do. The fact that we all sit here knowing he will do well copping 3 weeks, is the reality of the situation. He knows that act will guarantee you a suspension. Given it's a 1st year player who didn't take any further part in the game, well it deserves all the attention. We just need to move on and hope JDG is refreshed and ready to go leading into finals.

He got him high so itll be weeks but the media are making out to be Plugger/Cavan mark2

I think thing is that we are hitting a crescendo for the bump....it's a bit like the toby greene crescendo a couple of years back or the touching umpires hysteria of some years ago when players got weeks out. Not that I ever liked him, but greg williams got an unbelievable tribunal sentence for pushing off an umpire. Now they get a fine. In de goey's case, it's a classic example of exactly what the tribunal is looking for to send a message to the players. I think 3 weeks is almost unlikely. I think he needs to call Remy and organise a full tour of south-east asia...

If thats the treatment for a bump im going to iron my kids out now

Whatever suspension he receives, I hope he isn’t drawn into the media negativity. I would hate for this incident to affect his confidence, because that is exactly what they have set out to do.

He did jump off the ground to bump the player. If we can get three, I'd pounce on it. Four is a real chance.

Not sure you can define him being a few inches off the ground as a jump. He attempted to plant his foot but had too much forward momentum.

Not exactly Kozi Pickett like….

He will get 3 which is not good but we should do fine without him.
Lipinski in.
