I'm guessing he hoped we were better placed for a flag tilt by now too.
funnily enough, results dont show it yet, but we probably are!

We can't lose Kelly we don't have him.
And we already have Kelly.
To be fair, I was responding to your scenario.I was replying to Lomas who was the one who claimed we had Kelly as below.
Heres the trade from a GWS point of view.
They agreed to the Kelly extension option before Covid and the cap reduction. This puts pressure on their TPP so while they would prefer to keep him losing him would give them much more cap space over the next 8 years.
They currently hold picks 4,10 + 47.
If they let Kelly go as a FA they will get #11 in compo.
Picks 10 + 11 are potentially dangerous holdings for GWS in that their academy gun Fahey is likely to get bid on around that part of the draft and if a bid came before 10 they would lose at least one of those anyway should they match. Ideally they would look to upgrade/downgrade 10 + 11.
Horne is potentially a generational talent and strikes me as the ultra professional type who may be happy to play in Sydney long term.
They also need some points this year to match a bid on Fahey.
So the potential deal is as follows
Let Kelly go as a FA and get #11.
Then
In: 1 + 38
Out: 10. 11 + future 1st
They end up with Horne, #4 and 38 +47 to use for points on Fahey.

A fair bit apparently H.How much better is Horne than the players likely to fill the next 4 spots in this year's draft?
They can keep him, we won't be trading pick one out. Clayton pretty much said so in his interview with Cal Twomey.
He didn't quite say thatI believe he also said we'd draft two talls in the MSD. Still, no way we'd give up Horne if we end up finishing last (which isn't set in stone as yet).

Finn Callaghan might. Sounds like the complete player from what I’ve read and he’s tearing it up at the moment.not that I know much, but from what i can tell, Horne and Daicos are the clear top 2. Doesn't seem any speculation whatsoever about any other players who could challenge.

There is the another hurdle - his girlfriend is a Sydney sider!

It's a little bit easier when your mates all buggered off 5 minutes after you re-signed last time around.
What the fu**.
The media have said quietly confident on two different sides now. First it was us now it is GWS?
I hope he re-signs with GWS so we can get this thread to 1000 posts.
Meh, it will get there anyway.I hope he re-signs with GWS so we can get this thread to 1000 posts.
If he signs with us then 300 of the next 500 posts will be comparing him unfavourably with Atley.Meh, it will get there anyway.
