For high profile players, most players are given two year deals and if they don't perform they are out the door, the pressure is on them to perform. When you give someone an 8 year deal to run to the end of their career then all the pressure is on the club.
Which high profile player has changed clubs on a 2 year deal??

There are dog day care centres now , a bit like child care, better than Sydney apparently also a good selling point for Josh. at only $50 dollars a day areal bargain with government subsidy thrown in he might consider us .😎North Melbourne lost dogs home around the corner too if he needs a friend for his current companion

We also have a proportionate response to the pandemic and aren’t in lockdown like our northern neighbours

None that I am aware of. But there has never been a wingman who isn't considered one of the best in the competition go for 8 year deal on over $1m a year either. He has to be able to earn that kind of money and historically speaking, he hasn't. So the club is the one carrying the burden of risk.

I'm not saying he can't do it, but if we make the plunge and he sucks hard then it has the potential to do a lot of damage.

We just don't have a great record when it comes to chasing high value targets. Polec has sucked arse, Corr has been out all year with a paper cut. I hope this pans out differently.

Triple M yesterday:

Tom Browne changing his story, now saying North have offered is 5-6 years at $1.1m and not 8 as he previously reported on Wednesday. Also:
  • “There’s two other (VIC) clubs that I don’t who they are yet” but if he comes back to Melb it will most likely be North bc of his dad blah blah
  • “If he comes it won’t be for money but bc he wants to”
  • “Looking at this stage more likely he’ll stay at Giants

Tom Browne’s sources consist of this..

That would be the opportunity presented being correctly manipulated.

If it's not much money more than GWS would be paying him in total, but it's a huge amount of it straight up front - then you get him for $600,000 a season later when you're fighting for the flag - huge win.
Thats without a trade scenario. GWS (afl) would want a first round pick coming back. Maybe a future first round pick which im also reluctant to do. There is no chance in hell we should be offering up our number 1

Brownlow medal.
2020: Martin 15, Kelly 8
2019: Martin 23, Kelly 11
2018: Martin 19, Kelly 10
2017: Martin 36, Kelly 21
2016: Martin 26, Kelly 6
the brownlow is an umpire and bruce wank fest. Its not a true reflection of who the best player is. The AFL MVP (the Leigh) is a much more prestigious award in my opinion. Voted by your peers and Martin has one in 2017.

I agree in that I don't rate the Brownlow very highly as it doesn't give any credit at all to defenders and not even Carey could win one as a dominating forward.

However, it is not just the Brownlow that isn't recognising him, he hasn't had a great run since 2017, you shouldn't need any award to figure that out, his form was so bad GWS started him off down back this year. It is great he has found some form this year and I wouldn't mind us getting him. I just have concerns with overspending and the possible future implications.

You want someone to come to the club because they want to come to the club, not because we are just throwing around crazy amounts of cash.

It would be good if the club came out and either confirmed or denied what Brown says.

This is playing out in the media just like every single other one of these ‘go for the brass ring and fail’ over the last ten years.

We will be made to look a fool again if he doesn’t come and this story is what is believed, even if it is not true.

Difference couldn’t be more stark than the last regime, in the past we would have been the ones out crowing our intentions and ending up with getting egg on our faces.
When we get our man we can puff out our chests and carry on all we like but until then it’s all just media speculation. I’m thrilled that Brady a Co are conducting business in a professional manner.

It boggles the mind some dont want him

I think it’s more that they’re not ready to get hurt again rather than they don’t want him. It’s at what cost and length of contract that concerns some too. I for one am hoping Josh comes home and trust the club to get the best outcome for the club now and in the future. #inbradywetrust#itstimetocomehomejosh
