Tom Atkinson on Twitter is reporting that Josh Kennedy has a foot tendon injury
Does anyone know if an injury like this is serious?
Approx recovery time?

Looking at Wikipedia it doesn't sound too serious, in fact I think I've probably had a mild version of the condition myself based on the description. It sounds dehabilitating but probably something he could play through if he really needed to.

Rest is one of the suggested treatments so I would say they are simply easing him through the pre-season so he is ready for round one. It was also mentioned on the WCE website that he is running on a treadmilll so he should be fit coming into the season proper. The only thing that will be a concern is his touch if he misses out on all the practise games.

Overall I wouldn't think too much to worry about.

Worsfold brushes it off a bit on afl.com article.
Says Kennedy is able to run which is a bit of a relief.
Maybe not as serious as I first thought but a nuisance all the same.

from memory wirrapanda had same issues didnt he? he did alright.

Plantar fasciitis according to westcoasteagles.com. I've had it myself and it's more of an overuse injury that anything else. This is what Robert Harvey jumped off his table for to completely rupture the fascia to quicken recovery.
Hopefully it isn't a bad one.

He has had it before and rest is the best medicine, but it is one of those things that continues to hang around and cause pain and discomfort.

Kennedy becomes one of if not our most important player given our forward press tactics and that we have lost Lecras.

Am a little worried about this and the disruption it could have on his season. I am no expert on the condition but I think it something that can continue to flare up until ordered for a prolonged rest period.

From memory - the body doesn't actually use the tendon anymore and was a only used when we climbed trees to collect the high fruit.

So Harvs rupturing his foot actually cured it - because the tendon is permanently ruptured and therefore no tendonitis.

If josh Kennedy injury is worst then first thought I think McInnes will play.

Surely Mcinnes would not get the nod ahead of Lycett.

Has has done some nice things in the NAB so far but he has little presence up forward and is surely not ready to hold down a key post in the AFL.

Good to see Kennedy running at training today, just hope they are playing it really safe and holding him back as long as possible.

He is so important for our structure that if we lost him for any period of time I think we will really struggle.

Shuey hinted at it mate. :):thumbsu:

Our Boy Josh is IMO our most important player. Probably why they are being so cautious with him.

JK to play all 22 and win the Coleman.

Saw some vision of him running flat out on one of the sports news bulletins last night, geez he has a terrible running action. I can't believe that given the time he has been in they system someone hasn't put some work in on him to improve his style.
