I was struck recently by the massive over reaction by Caro Wilson to a comment by Tredders on radio. Many of us thought that either or both Hinkley or Davies were involved in the “fix”.

Then I was listening to Hutchy and Damo Barrett podcast and they were discussing how they got their stories from “sources” when they were fully fledged journalists. The deal was they owed favourable stories to their sources.

Think about over the years who have been supported by Caro, Rooch, Sheehan, Cornes, Rowe etc etc. It certainly gave me insight on many of our leaks over the years.

Credit to KT, he was never credited with favourable stories. Hutchy and the news breaker certainly accelerated my synicism on believing journalists stories.

You're only cottoning on to this now?

Not trying to be mean, but this has been obvious for years. Journalism is a game of information, trying to extract the most amount of information possible from various sources. There's an art to it, and the best ones in the game are able to walk the line of impartiality whilst still knowing when to back scratch and help certain sources reveal certain information in a public forum.

The sources if they have half a brain are also playing a game - drip feeding information to various journos and expecting them to get information given to them in return.

Footy journos such as Caro don't exactly hide their sourcing all too well though - which is why we've seen such a visceral reaction from her regarding Tredrea's "good call" comments 6 weeks ago, despite there being zero malice in the words which were signed off and endorsed by the Club publicly.
