If he goes we must have a replacement ready to go. Neil Balme is a premiership machine and Mark Williams not far behind. Not sure if Balmes coaching is as good as his administration work, but he's been involved with Collingwood (under Malthouse, lost x2 GFs), Geelong and now Richmond. Would sound him out though.

Jlo looked very down and out during that last press conference after that game. Doesn't exactly exude confidence to players and supporters.
He doesn't really come across as a go-getter like say McRae at Collingwood, although Jlo's best year was last year returning 16 wins,7 losses 1 draw ,very similar to McRae who had 17 wins and 8 losses. McRae only became a senior coach last year and is 49 years of age and Jlo is only 42, so hopefully is learning himself and improving, the thing is he would not want to lose the confidence of the players, by lacking confidence himself.
Who else is there ? ,the only one maybe Josh Carr but he is untried and seems destined to maybe takeover at Port.

I would look at Choco. I reckon get an AFL statesman into our club. He has worked miracles at Dees and always see him in Goodwins ear.

Get a coach who wants to back in the natural flair of each player.

I get the softer touch coaches need now, but not too soft. Every team/player in every comp in every sport needs a rocket from time to time.

Ross survived 0-10. Jl has the players. Needs to go reckless and change the plan
100%. Let the players run n carry, back them in. Me might lose by 30 but could win by 50.

But…if we are a bottom 4 team at the end of the year watch the membership drop dramatically again! Thought he was contracted till 2025 until I checked last night. Only has 1 more year.

One thing that is common in all pro sports, and indeed amateur sports, is that players don’t generally blame themselves when things are going wrong in a team. In fact, the very last place they look is in the mirror at their own performances. Even if it’s patently obvious to everyone that they aren’t trying as hard as they could.you see this list often in the “new coach bounce” when players that have been going though the motions for several weeks before a coach is sacked, come out the next week under a new or interim coach and run themselves to exhaustion and often win unexpectedly.
I’m not saying that’s happening here yet but I do think this could get out of hand for JL very quickly given the expectation levels of not only the fans, but also the players during pre season. This is totally different to 2020.
If the players start to have any doubts about the coach or the coaching staff we will find ourselves in a whole world of pain very very quickly.
Right now I have the eagles as favourites next week based on current form.

Completely different circumstances - RL had serious credits in the bank compared to JL.

They aren't sacking him if he goes 0-5 guys. Highly unlikely they're sacking him at all this year in-season but if they do get ruthless it will be the same as Ross, when we're a mathematical impossibility of making finals

It will be interesting to see if Bell starts to separate himself from JL.. I think even if we miss the finals JL will stay. If we finish bottom three then there is a chance he goes.

I expect we will finish 12th-13th after this start. 11th if we are lucky. They will keep him on based on that and we have to hope like hell he learns to get us attacking.

But that's not the style he played last season. He's just probably passive this season and trying to get the club into the top 4 and keeping it all together. Jl is capable of firing a rocket and changing the team mid game. This season he's definitely scared or shocked to make a move. Now at 0-2 he ll have nothing to lose.
'Jl is capable of firing a rocket and changing the team mid game. This season he's definitely scared or shocked to make a move.'

That is not correct, he has many (most) times sat there like a statue. For example, repetitive kicking in (after a point) to the pack at right half back last year was embarrassing.

Buckley would be a good choice as second time round would be improved like Voss WE need an experienced coach who would have the respect of the players

Getting him out of victoria would be tough but I would love to have him here. The vic media loves him as well so we would get a good run for a while.

People were savaging Ross for a boring style. Only two games in, so there is still time for growth, but our points average since he has been here has not been an improvement. On top of that we are more boring than ever to watch.

Go offer big money and get 2-3 of:

  • Leppitsch
  • Lappin
  • Van Berlo
  • Reid
  • McVeigh
  • Bruce
  • Pyke
  • Richardson

Demote Corey.

Fire all ex-Freo Players involved with the mens' team outside of JLo (Bell / Mzungu / Hayden ?)

Then get Sandilands back at the club.

Would love someone like Dunstall to come and have a look through the club too.

Yer, let’s be an Essendon or Norfs. Just remember there’s no AFL Head office here in WA. I’m backing him in, there was a pointed message in his presser. Need to get real with the pee hearts which get defended time and again.

If he goes so does Bell too.

They have done well building the culture. Credit where credit is due.

In saying that I feel that a suburban footy coach could figure out game day issues quicker.

Since Collingwood beat us at Optus last year what has Longmuir done different? He's brute forcing this far figured out game plan (That is now getting beaten by an undermanned St Kilda and North Melbourne). He's brought in Hughes, Banfield, Wilson and other spuds time after time despite them failing continuously. Our defence has gone backwards, our midfield has gone backwards and after 3 years he still hasn't a clue what to do with a forward line. St Kilda's cobbled together forward line last week was better than our forward line has EVER been.

He's stubborn, uncreative and generally just a little s**t. It's been years now since he said our goal kicking would fix itself yet we still consistently kick behinds MORE than goals.

* him off and get someone with a better vision for the future
