Anything below 9 wins this season, and I'd hope the club will do its due diligence on available coaches. 9-11 wins is a disappointing year but it could be an anomaly so happy to give Jlo more time to check progress. 12+ wins this season and he's fine IMO considering our list changes, age demographic and tough draw.

Although Jlo should get credit for last year. We don't know how much of it was player driven. Even Connolly and Mark Harvey had successful years with finals wins.

It's Jlo's fourth year since coaching. Ross only got 4 years of 'rebuild' after we finished 1st in 2015 before getting the boot. Same with Mark Harvey. We should have a clearer picture by the end of the year.

You're not really giving any context as to why Harvey and Lyon were moved on. Neither of them were replaced because it was a stipulated 4 years. That number is arbitrary. I don't think we need to rehash the reasons why.

Lyon basically ran our team into the ground where we had a number of very uncompetitive losses as well as his off field issues so it was not about the number of years he had to rebuild.

Ross was done that derby debacle in 2019 when we kicked 2.19 was enough to basically show change was required.

The only issue I had was why not wait 1 more week when we did it.

We now have Hale on the record books for ever as coach of freo for 1 pointless game.

Should have given Ross the last round then cut ties.

I understand that but I'm saying that four years should be a good time to assess the coach and our direction of travel. For Mark Harvey it was clear after four years, and for some it was clear with Ross too during the rebuild (I don't want to rehash this argument). As per my full post, I'm happy to give Jlo more time, even if we have a poor season. But not much more time. We have good list and I would hate to see it wasted (like we did under Connolly or Port under Hinkley).

Wasn't it offered to him and he declined?

How many of these losses do we have to have before they'll move on him? Cos I reckon there is a boatload more coming this year. We haven't played anyone good yet, which is the scary part.

Strap yourself in mate. Bar a string of complete and utter floggings he'll get the season and probably the start of next.

Although tbf with the way we're playing, those floggings are a possibility.

This is gonna sound pretty fkd but I see a lot of similarities with 2023's game plan that Noble tried to implement at North in 2022. L

The defensive zone pushed up so damn high when Freo are in the D50 that the ball can't be moved forward because no one is coming at the ball. Instead, all the ball carrier sees is his teammates' backs as they bust their arse trying to run forward. It basically blunts offensive scoring and guarantees repeat inside 50s.

The down the ground vision when rebounding is particularly damning.

It's fkd and needs to be chucked out the window.

Jesus ****ing christ.

(Not doubting you at all, just internally dying at this prospect)

Yep. It was very evident from my seat in the game against North. Seemed so obvious it was a completely stupid way to play and is one reason I have zero faith in JL. He needs to either completely change his gameplan (good luck trying that mid season) or we need a new coach ASAP.

I would also say that Bell needs to go as well. You can have him at North (there was some talk end of last year that could be on the cards).

Coaches contracts don't mean anything now days - six month payout is all that's needed. It won't happen until we're a mathematical chance of not making finals.
