If a company board released a statement that they would be making a record profit in 4 years, but in actual fact made a loss, how would that go down with the shareholders?
Not good. But I can see sponsors pulling out after their deals are done.

There's a reason why eagles have 50 million dollars in assets and dockers don't

How the hell would anyone know what Murphs can do with this young team? Bell has chained him to the desk, he needs triplicate signatures before he dares to get a coffee (let alone a beer or an off Cockburn site meeting) with an actual reserves player, let alone an AFL listed player. If Murphs was allowed to be Murphs, and just given free range without white anting, obsessive Bellian oversight and micro control, we'd have a chance of getting out of this even with JL as head coach. Bell stifles every independent thought that he can't take personal credit for - witness him no longer delivering injury reports on camera, but insisting on drafting and scripting every update question, answer and follow up.

horse shit.

you wouldn’t know shit from sticky pudding in regards to what Bell or a Murphy actually do

Total garbage. Macrae has dropped players multiple times, been tough as guts in messaging behind closed doors for years, and just destroys any entitlement or sense of superiority in even Brownlow medal winning players, in favour of accountability and driven performance. This "old guys can't coach" or "coaches have to listen and feel and be everyone's mate" stuff is just garbage. Reesults across all sports at all levels in the last decade say that hard strong coaching wins, not pathetic abysmal soft blah popularity - and certainly not the obsessive one dimensional stubborn mantras we are seeing for Bell and JL.

Player popularity = poopularity as a coach.
LOL. Yeah ok.

Cuddly Ross says hi to your sidetrackin, red herrings and strawmen.

Hogwash. McRae and Hardwick were hard at it players and campaigners on the field. Jlo was a softy.

Translates into coaching.

The most fear-based behaviour tool is punishment, which just happens to be the least effective.

Punishment stops being effective as soon as it’s out of mind or not seen as a threat.

Bringing in draconian measures such as the death penalty doesn’t reduce murders or serious violent crime (although it does throw a bone to reactionaries and is an easy veneer of a “fix” for politicians to be seen doing something to address a problem). People who commit serious violent crimes either aren’t in the state of mind to think about consequences, or don’t care about the consequences, or don’t think they’ll get caught.

What does help reduce crime is where people feel more connected to the society they’re in and the people in it. That they’re not driven by fear and desperation. That their mental well-being has been nurtured and is healthy as it can be. That they have purpose.

Real purpose comes from being engaged. Driven towards something. Fear and punishment are aversive. They’re more about driving people away from something.

Punishment is at it’s most effective (besides just placating the petty reactionary in us) when people are connected to values and purpose. It operates to sharpen boundaries in a way.

But it’s much easier to identify and improve if you’re heading towards something you’re connected to. Especially when a maximum number of members of that group are engaged and connected to that purpose. Not bound and constrained by what not to do and avoidance. But engaged in a common direction.

Erasmus had been on the wing but was better than Johnson when he went to inside mid. We could have subbed out almost anyone from the team, agree, but Johnson wasn't hard done by. But there are untouchables, for sure.
Nah, there were worse players imo. Erasmus being one of them.

I can see Darcy getting frustrated and just saying “f*k this *
Works his ass off every week. Wins most of the taps .
Runs up and down the ground covering forward and defence and then just sees the ball getting turned over every 5 minutes

If he re-signs it will be a miracle I reckon
yep and us recruiting Luke Jackson would tempt him to go elsewhere even more where he can be top dog. Getting LJ always made me super fearful this would cause us to lose Darcy. It'll be another one of those things Freo is laughed about in years to come when he dominates at Geelong.

Yeah I am onboard with that. Sure, everyone wants a flag but long periods of sustained winning seasons are underrated.

We just can't afford to waste huge chunks of our better players prime like we did with Sandi, Pav and McPharlin.
Agreed....

As I said if Justin Longmuir gives us a similar finals run like port Adelaide under Ken Hinkley from 2013-21, you could live with that.

You can look back to 3 preliminary finals but 5 finals wins. It wouldn't be bad to look back on. It would stand out too, especially compared to 1995-2011.

Well he dominated against Carlton where did that get us.

Even though we beat Essendon, Brad Scott would have been a good get at the time. Freo supporters have been starved of an attacking game plan for a longgggg time.

But that’s also a personnel thing. And I still like JLo too.

what do you mean 'top dog'? as in no1. ruck? bc darcy will remain that even with LJ, jackson isnt here for his rucking surely weve all figured that out by now

At the end of the day if we flipped Darcy to Sydney for say Warner and Sheldrick/McDonald why wouldn't we? Its all about making the team better and many clubs higher than us have shown you dont really need a ruckman who dominates the hit outs.

Backing Jl.
The fact he got this list into semi finals, given the inexperience and age profile is crazy.
The list is overrated and over the pre season expectations were way too high.

Mundy, Acres, Lobb, Logue and Tucker leaving left a big hole- Fyfe was hailed the perfect full forward for Lobb- tbh that shows how ****ed and oh so wrong Bell underestimated the departure of these players.
Jackson isn’t a forward.

The forward line of Treacy, Amiss, Jackson haven’t even played 100 games all up. That’s a rebuilding line.

The midfield absolutely sucks. Too small, too one minded. The top teams gave players who not only are tall, but also fast, skilful and breaks the lines. Petracca can go forward and dominate. Bontempelli has domianted Fremantle time and time again. De Goey this week will absolutely leave the midfield for dust.

Fremantle have none of that.
Serong and Brayshaw have limitations. But to bring in JOM at 29, expecting him to be Mundy 2.0. Joke.

Fans needs to temper expectations. Finals 2024/25 and tilt at flag afterwards.

Why would he want to go to Gold Coast though, nice for a holiday but hardly ever going to be a football destination.
Sun's are on the way up.

Sun's will probably finish 9th to 12th.

Give Hardwick a 4 year deal from 2024-27 and the suns will make finals each year.

It’s the challenge of leading a club out of the wilderness and I’m sure there’s an element of God Complex in Hardwick.

It’s also about getting out of Melbourne with his new partner and having a change of scenery .

I believe it’s called “ new beginnings”😎
