Stick the course. Look at any really s**t team across any code and they're always changing reactively. We've taken a big step back this year no doubt, got enough credits to try and fix next year.

Can't tell if you're joking or not.

This guy hasn't won a flag, he has zero credits.

Who are you bringing in? Hardwick ain't coming West, no one else proven anywhere.

JL needs better support for sure, but we won a final last year, and have one of the least experienced sides in the comp, many of whom have played less than 20 games together. Our best has beaten very good sides over the last two years. Changing now may feel great, right up until it doesn't. We dish up this next year, swing the axe, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I don't want to bring in a white ant but can we lure a gun assistant coach (pay him a bag) with the prospect that he has a good chance of taking over midseason next year (plus a lot of money)? If JL were to start the season poorly who in our current coaching group would you want to take over? Josh Carr would've been the one.

Last time we did that it didn't work out so well.

Better off interviewing clean for the top job than settling for whoever would be willing to come over as an assistant.

It’s not the losing, it’s the manner in which we lose and the complete lack of improvement in those areas. How can there be no improvement in the way we start games? Surely a coach can exert some influence through the course of a season.

I don't disagree, but it did get fixed for a while. Fyfe got fit, we had a genuine big-body in there and we started winning clearance and contest. Darcy went down, Fyfe down, Brodie unavailable and we get beat up massively in the middle.

We actually started a few games (today included) well on top, but couldn't convert, or get good service in, due to mids not absorbing pressure.

The midfield dictates all of this; with cover our defense looks good, without they're out of position and get ****ed. Johnno and Ras need to develop and it'll be painful while they do. Brodie hopefully finds a way back in.

The game plan isn't bad, but the execution has been terrible and we need to be bigger in the middle. Don't get me wrong, JL hasn't been great, but he's also not the liability people are making out. I know it feels shit, but give it another year to come together.

Someone enlighten me how our poor starts are JL's fault? There has been plenty of games where we come out of the blocks firing and are clearly the better team in the first 10 minutes, but we don't capitalise either due to poor goal kicking or poor entries. Today was another example. The issue with the team is being unable to halt momentum. That's a leadership thing more than a coaching thing.

The team regularly gets phased by opponents, which is pretty common for a new or inexperienced squad.

If anything JL or any coach that able to recalibrate as well as we've seen against quality opposition eg Collingwood or Bulldogs is doing their job right.

Shit game plan that every other coach seems to know how to counter.

It seems clear that every side has figured us out and we lose in the same way most weeks but we don’t or can’t adjust/change. That screams shit coach to me.

Does that explain why we started on top, played 12 minutes of dogshit footy, and then had the better of them for the rest of the game? Those 12 minutes cannot be gameplan when everything outside of that we were on top. That’s purely down to skill execution and mindset from the players.

Recalibrate? Our percentage is in the 80s. The pies took the foot off the gas.

Justin served under two of the worst ball movement coaches in recent history. Simmo and bucks.they had success playing game plans which are now obsolete.

The narrative around jl in his first few years was he was getting the defense right first and on paper that looked to be the case as scores against were down. I now believe a key component of that was the way we moved the ball. It was safe and unadventurous and masked the fact that our defenders aren't actually good at defending. We have conceded 100 pts so many time this year to so so teams.

I'd offer Josh Carr JLs job. Port aren't going to fire hinkley

Yes. The pressure is much greater early in the game as players are fresh. That's why our first quarters are rubbish, the JL game style does not hold up to high pressure.

The game style doesn’t hold up to high pressure or the players don’t? Not enough blame is on the players ever week. Not being able to handball 2m away to ur teammates advantage has nothing to do with JL.

Doesn't matter. It's ultimately the coach that's accountable for both.
