I'd be more interested in his performance as a forward coach. That's where we need work.
He was The Wiggles Fwd coach from '11-'16. They made the finals most of those years.

J-Lo isn't the coach of Collingwood, he's the backline coach. I don't know exactly how line coaches work in relation to the rest of the coaching staff, but surely if Collingwood's defense is organised and performing well then the team as a whole will restrict the opposition scoring.
Just because he has the defense organised and playing well doesn't translate to 'he's a defensive coach', that's just the task he's been set.

There's nothing wrong with being solid in defense, the problem for us was the other end of the ground. You'd think if someone can organise and structure one end of the ground, those management skills can translate to other areas and the rest of the coaching staff as a whole.

Of course we won't know until they are given the chance, but that goes for all assistants progressing into a senior role.

Not trying to down play jlo influence here but we’ve just sacked one of the modern day great defensive coaches.

That’s not this teams issues.

What the team is crying out for is some efficient, cohesive forward structure .

the irony of people lauding Jlo's performance as a backline coach after bitching and moaning about how Ross needed to go because he played too negative.

Oh and Jlo coaches for the team that just won one of the lowest scoring finals in recent memory in perfect conditions.
In reality, head coaches and their assistants contribute across the game plan. The 'area of coaching' I suspect is just for accountability during training and setup. Can you imagine coaches on the same team saying to one another 'sorry mate, stick to your area I'll stick to mine..'? They would discuss everything between themselves.

JK and Darling have both publicly stated Jlo was a monumental reason for their cohesion and forward line patterns. Ironically, our next coach and the one who most of us really want (myself included) would be the bloody bastard who helped set up those flogs up the roads last flag. Just another case of poetic Freo happenings.

if he can create something from that literal potato Darling, imagine what he could do with Tabs, Cam Mac, Hogan & Lobb

Yep. This decision along with Morabito’s knees probably cost Freo a flag.

They should have chosen Darling but this must have been mentioned on here many times.

Morra would have been a gun. All gopd in hindsight.

Keeping Mayne on Lake cost Freo the flag. Inaccurate kicking for goal early on also did.

I must’ve forgotten that or didn’t know. I didn’t think he was ever an assistant with us, just a development coach.

I was under the impression he was our ruck coach not forwards coach
