Id say it would not be seen as normal or typical for Australians (largely) to get "enthused" about politicians, and to me the over the top rah rah of US campaign stops (yes, on both sides and historically) has always left me a bit "wtf is this".

But it probably has to do with voluntary nature of voting this need to be "enthused"

Trump certainly gets his supporters enthused and also by his actions "enthuses" others to actively vote against him.
